A jewel for beer raters. Beers available as singles. Great selection with a lot of rare beers you can’t easily find anywhere else. A great place to expand your foreign beer ratings. However if you’re just buying macros or other easily found beers, you’re better off stopping by Kroger.
NIce place...have been there 2 to 3 times now (out of convenience). the beer selection is good at this location, but better at the carmel location. i know this is a beer site, but the wine selection is really great, with a room in the back housing more prized beautiful wines. it’s a really cramped store, but i don’t go there for ease of movement...nice store, friendly staff...cannot attest to their knowledge of beer though. definitely worth the trip if you’re passing through.
Great store. Largest selection in the city, and the state as far as I have heard. Great staff and always willing to talk beer with you. Tremendous selection of Belgians and great domestics. Isles and walls packed tight with beer. The go to store in the City.
A store with excellent selection of beer, no breaking up of six packs large selection of mircos and Belgain beers. I didn’t ask the staff many questions but when they saw what I brought they made some recommendations on some products.
Wow...I wish we had a store like this in Grand Rapids. Kahn’s has a very nice selection of beers with emphasis on Belgians. By far the best selection of Cantillon, Fantome, Brasserie des Rocs and many other Belgians I’ve encountered. Also has many rare beers and many of the top American micros (Stone, Bells, Three Floyds, Dogfish Head, Rogue, etc.). The only knock on the selection is that they don’t have near-complete lines from many brewers, likely due to cramped quarters. If they offered more 12-ounce singles this place would be perfect. Lest I forget, this place is very expensive, with the highest prices I’ve seen in the region for many beers.
I was incredibly happy with my decision to drive up here while visiting family just outside of Indy. In fact I went back again, and will plan on heading back every time I come back to Indy! Service is friendly, selection is fairly large and there’s some true rare stuff there. Ambience is like any other store, although you’ll want to exercise caution, aisles are tight and bottles are everwhere!
Glad I decided to take a quick jaunt around the city to check this out before heading to the airport. Relatively small but spectacular selection. Brit barley wines, and wall of beautiful Belgians. Cantillon galore, the entire Lou Pepe line, Fou Foune, etc., some vintage geueze from Drie Frontienen (sp?), and a nice selection of micros from around the US. Was offered help by someone specifically if I had any questions about the Belgians I was looking at. At the checkout, one of the guys saw the bottle of Fantome BBB that I had selected and said, &quo;Whoo, the funky stuff.&quo; Nice to see a knowledgeable staff. I will make a point of going to visit whenever time in Indy permits.
Kahn’s was the one beer store I planned on visiting when in Indianapolis and I am glad to have made the trip. It is located on a main road and is pretty easy to find. Parking is plentiful in the small strip mall lot.
While it is obvious that the store caters to wine customers, they do a very good job on beer selection with the limited space. The back right section of the store is dedicated to beer, both in coolers and on shelves. They have a pretty good system of categorization too. English, Belgian, American, Regional etc. A pretty good selection of singles too. They had a nice selection of rarities and vintage stuff like J.W. Lee’s, Harvey’s, Three Floyd’s seasonals and a nice selection of local brews like Oaken Barrel and Mad Anthony.
The service is pretty good, even though when I visited the &quo;beer guy&quo; was not present, so they were hesitant to break up 6-packs. They probably would have if I pushed, and they were pleasant folks.
This spot is definitely worth a visit if you are in the Indianapolis area. It is only about 10 minutes from downtown.

great guys, very personable. my only complaint was it took 4 days for them to ship my beer out, but thats only a complaint because i needed to get it before i left home. they have a great selection of bells beers as well as a few three floyds. guys are very friendly and always willing to help. note- i gave them a 3 on ambiance becuase i have never been there- because i used this as a mail order store. without giving a rating on ambiance it wont allow me to submit.
