My old haunt from school. For catering primarily to college kids, I could always find some treats here. Nothing particularly rare, but always carries Three Floyds and other locals. Nice Craft selection for sure. If you’re in school down here, definitely give Kimbark a try rather than the longer trek to Binny’s.

This store has the best selection of craft beer in Chicago’s south side. About 1/3 their floor space and 90% of their cooler space is devoted to beer. My neighborhood’s Binny’s is tiny but competitive for beer selection. I usually go here instead because it’s easier to find a parking space. Like Binny’s, prices are on the high side for the common stuff and there are rarely and decent beers on sale. (Drive to Kenwood Liquors at 88th & Stony Island for the best everyday prices if you need 12-packs. 30-packs or cans in quantity). I’ve never had an employee recommend a beer to me here, although other customers have. They have frequent wine and liquer samplings, but I don’t think they employ a resident beer geek. They are always busy with a hurried checkout lane, and they card senior citizens without a discount. Still, this is a good place to go if you are in Hyde Park with $30 to spend for 2 bombers and a 6-pack of beers you haven’t tried yet.
