Visited in March 2017. Pleasant pub with a wide range of beers and lively atmosphere. Pub cat Chairman Meow was relaxing on a bar stool and getting plenty of attention. Enjoyable.

A down to earth town pub, a bit shabby but comfortable enough. There are entrances from both King Street and New Walk, which are on slightly different levels. The beer range was good, with ten or eleven real ales. (Visited 21 February 2016).

Visited February 2016 with beery friends. Old style town pub, friendly service, lots of seatings. Good variation on the beers on tap, and they were served in good condition.

March ’16 Rating = 82. Really well settled in now, always a full range of well selected beers. Comfortable and friendly. Best in Leicester now for me.
March ’14 Rating = 70.A newish project for the expanding Black Country Ales chain, not quite the range of beers of some of them but reasonable enough, although the quality on the day was a little dubious. Smallish single roomed pub but with a raised patio balcony at the back. One of the many pubs showing Rugby in the city but there are escape areas to the front. Needs some work but well worth a look.

Visited on Friday 5th February 2016. Long single roomed pub, real fires on the go so lovely wood smoke smell. 2 banks of handpulls but no keg beers on. 4 guests, 3 Black Country beers and 2 ciders. Good range of guests. Beer well kept. Service good and at £3 a pint not bad value. I like this place.

A well-loved one-room pub from the Black Country Ales group. Just off New Walk so not far from the station. A handful of real ales, plus a couple keg from the likes of Mad Hatter or Cloudwater, make this place a viable stop if not a destination. Music is a bit too loud, but staff and clientele are amazingly friendly.

Usual range of Black Country Ales, but additional cask options and they do seem to be heading in the direction of craft keg, with teasers online about impending Siren and Beavertown. A long thinnish boozer, which gets higher towards the back. Warm and comfortable.

A fairly standard English pub, this is located just off the New Walk a stone’s throw from the Pub. Depending on your musical tastes you might find it better to sit outside as the volume was cranked a little high. When busy it might be less of an issue.

As with most pubs in Leicester you will find a good mixture of local and regional casks. There was nothing really outstanding but at the same time there should be something for everyone. Swing by this place and if it doesn’t work out then there are plenty of other options in easy walking distance.

Ordinary looking pub but with an excellent focus on real ales. The pub rotates a great selection, and you might even see Rhubarb the dog who is often here with her master. There’s a small yard out back that doubles as a beer garden which then leads onto the New Walk where ’Pub’ is located.
