Latest visit on August 2nd, 2017. Been here many times in the past from 2005 onward. A favorite place to go still, albeit rather touristy. I tend to take the tram to stop Pohorelec, then walk a short distance. Don’t eat here very often, but the beers are well worth swinging by for. Got the indoors seating by the brew setup and bar, some outdoors seating, then down a few steps to a larger beer hall like area. This time sat outside. OK service, nice beers. I shall most likely return more times as well.
Older rating text from 2007, the only time it seems I bothered writing about it in the past from earlier visits: Their beers are just about the best available in Prague! A must visit, though it might feel quite touristy. Good food and service.
Small brewpub with a couple of tables inside and a slightly larger patio / beergarden. Very stuffy inside, the brewing setup being located directly next to the bar, so sit outside when (and if) you can. Three regular beers and two seasonals on tap, usually of very high quality, though slightly pricier than most other places in town. Service is efficient and English is no problem. To avoid the climb up the hill take tram 22 to Pohorelec. Comparatively early opening hours are a plus and should be taken advantage of before the tourist hordes descend upon the place.
I fell in love with Klášterní Pivovar Strahov. It was a long walk to reach it and I got lost at first (and so I lost my reservation). When there I managed to try their pils, their apa and their dunkel. Love, love, love! All beers in good conditions, damn cheap, good and fast service. A must when in Prague!
This is an awesome place. They only had two beers that they made on hand. Tram #22 is best for the visit. The brewery stop is two from the Castle. The food was excellent. The place is huge with a stage for music and two restrooms. I had the IPA and a dark beer. The IPA was probably the top ale in Prague. They also serve wine. It is across from the Strahov Monastery. This is must visit for Prague. Lots of good beers in Prague but this was the best IPA!
A good walk up the hill from the Charles Bridge or you can take a tram. They have the brewery on one side and the restaurant on the other. It’s an old Czech beer bar with big tables, hearty food and five of their own home brewed beers. Good service and wifi. Worth the trip.
