Best place in Plzen to sample beers from small breweries on tap. Constantly changing selection of 6 beers, often has a really good variety. Serves classic, if a little conservative, Czech brews and also the more adventurous from the likes of Matuska and Kocour, who brew very much in the style of the U.S craft beer industry. Food is bar-snacks and relatively basic but the pickled cheese is well worth trying. Non-smoking and busy most evenings, so booking is required if you desire a table. A great bar!
Are they closed down or still open? Anyway at that address there was a bar. Worn out one, full of smoke and local drunks. Some taps of macro stuff and I can’t remember any bottles (of beer). Since we had to run to the train I think I even didn’t bother to finish my glass. That’s how horrific this place was.
10 taps, but almost all crappy macro you find everywhere. Fridges only had half a dozen bottles too, again a boring selection. Did I go through the wrong door? Was a bit of a shithole, scruffy student pub, tons of stale smoke and spilt beer pervades the atmosphere. Service was not with a smile. Dirt cheap.
Kleine Bar mit 8 wechselnden Bieren vom Fass und einer großen Auswahl an Flaschenbieren im Kühlschrank. Tschechisches, Belgisches, Deutsches und US Bier. Deutsch sprechender Eigner ist beer-freak. Sehr freundliches Personal. Preis-Leistung ungeschlagen!
Kann ziemlich laut und voll werden, Reservierung empfohlen! Gemischtes Publikum aller Altersklassen und Nationalitäten.
Friendly student’s bar just between the Hlavní nadraží (central railway station) and the Plzeňský Prazdroj with a great selection of czech micros and foreign ( často z Německa) beers. Surely not the coziest pub in town, but a must for beer hunters!
Located nearby old planetarium next to Urquell house. Huge collection of bottleware, glassware, bricklets, some football scarves, Shakhtar Donetsk, Man.City. A couple of stammies, local beerhunters, couples, bohemian bohemians. Barman with icehockey hairstyle, spricht deutsch, woman in the back making local tasteful dishes.
8 taps for rotating keg menu, website may sometimes lag behind. Fridge with bottles, most of them not seen in cz supermarkets. Yes, this is a place with beers forward.
The best place to drink beers in Pilsen. Eight taps with a good selection. Czech beers only and with focus on local stuff. Lots of bottles from Germany, Brlgium and Czech Republic. Interior is nice with wooden furniture. Service was nice and English was not a problem.
A small, simply furnished yet cozy place (got to love carpeted floors in bars) just a short walk from the main train station. 8 beers on tap, all Czech / German micros, quality can sometimes consequently be rather hit and miss. Friendly bar staff spoke good English.

We visited 25.11.2013. This pub is located very close to the Pilsner Urquell brewery (5 min walk, over the bridge). Looks a bit weird, like a student club, but has a special atmosphere (bamboo mats on the ceiling). Only locals when we were there. Had a great IPA from Matuska, good quality and temperature. They also have a good bottle selection. Definitely worth a visiting.
A typical, slightly obscure Czech pub reminiscent of a sports pub. Therefore it is not so much about the ambience (although the barmaid was nothing short of lovely) but about the beer. The bottled ones are nothing special - standard Belgian and German fare. But the 6 taps offer a very nice selection of Czech micros and on busy evenings they tend to rotate rather quickly. I would definitely like to have such a pub where I live. Oh, and it’s luckily a non-smoking zone.
