Tiny old bar, with a great old style atmosphere inside. Just a few beers available, but at least a few bottles of Lambic, and a bag-in-the-box of Oud Beersel Oude Lambik. Tried one sausage, and it was poor quality.
Visited in the evening. The place was packed so we sat down on the closed terrace in the back. Have to say the ambiance at the terrace is not nearly as good as in the main room. Solid selection of bottles, some taps as well. Good service. Wouldn’t consider it a must visit, but it is a decent place to have a beer especially if you can sit in the front room.
Visited for the first time on a Tuesday during lunch in November 2016. A lot of old world charm at this place. It was crowded with mostly locals. (even a dog) The selection was decent, I came for the Girardin Kriekenlambik. The service was a bit on the slow side due to all the guests. Well worth a visit, maninly for the atmosphere and for some decent beers. Located in central Brussels, around 10 minutes walk from the Grand Place.
Visited 28th January 2016, loved the Kriek and Lambic there. The atmosphere is cosy and friendly, lots of locals, happy to speak to you. Bar man also friendly and interested in the beer. Liked this place, the beer was limited, but what they have is enough to get me back there.
Called here for the Girardin kriekenlambic. Very busy, cosy, and atmospheric. The servers were non stop, and very efficient. Nearly everyone, bar us, was eating. Food looked ok, and was certainly popular. Not a large range of beer, but that didn’t bother me. Would visit again, definitely.
Lovely old Brown Cafe type bar in central Brussels with an eccentric history, being popular with Nuns and artists. The outside is strange but when you enter via a curtain and get used to the light you see the charming interior with all its history displayed on the walls. A handy place for a snack and a beer, although the beer list is smaller than many. The language in here appears to be Flemish Dutch rather than the normal Brussels French. Definitely worth a look.
Stopped in for lunch during a layover. This place just exudes character. The beer selection is decent. I had the Flemish Beef Stew for lunch, which was fantastic. The service was friendly and attentive. This might not be a place to find hard to get beers, but it is well worth a visit.
Bags of character, multiroomed pub with nic esuntrap terrace out the back. never busy but always buzzing, helpful staff, visited three times in a week. final visit we were allowed in just before doors closed as we knew what we were having. The sublime girardin kriekenlambic of course!
Fleur en Papier Dorée, apparently Magritte used to drink here and half the bar/restaurant oozes character and is old school with art & brick-a-brac coating all the walls, irregular floors & tables very atmospheric. The back extension is bright generic dinner, boring. Also if you ask what beers they have on tap no mention will be made of their Geuze or lambics! They’re bag in a box fresh so not considered to be on tap. Ask what geuze/lambics they have. Great place.
