Nice pub in the City Centre, visited on a Friday night and the bar was very busy though managed to get a seat and was served quickly each time I went to the bar, friendly service. A number of craft kegs, cask ales and some cider and large bottle list (though some bottles were overpriced...£5 odd for Fyne's Jarl for example). A lot of good, mainly indie music in the background.

Modern pub in central Newcastle, close to the theatre, there was an excited group of people waiting with autograph books outside. The pub has a modern stripped down feel, but nowhere near the Brewdog version. There is a large range of cask and keg beers, plenty of choice. Friendly barman. Well worth a visit.

Visited in February 2016. A comfortable, bare-boarded pub very close to the Theatre Royal. The big, clear glass windows give a bit of a goldfish bowl effect but it’s a nice place for a beer. Eight casks included a fair number of beers from local brewers, including Firebrand and Errant on this occasion and a few "craft" kegs - although I didn’t pay too much attention to them as there were plenty of new cask beers to keep me busy. Didn’t check out the bottle list either. Phone signal was non-existent but free wifi signal was very powerful - not always the case in pubs. My kind of place.

Have seen two sides to this place. Found it by accident when a colleague and I were after an afternoon pint before heading to the airport. Was impressed with the range of beers, liked the sound of the food and appreciated the decour. Headed back on a weekday evening and the place was rammes. Could hardly get to the bar. In fact it was uncomfortably busy. Also did not get a chance to try the food as the kitchen shut surprisingly early (about 20:00). Will go again next time I’m up there.

A lovely old fashioned pub right opposite the stage door of the Theatre Royal. There’s a wooden floor, dark wood panelling and a pretty chandelier in the little room at the back where I think I must have been sitting on the very same leather bench Fin reported occupying! There are eight hand pumps with a good choice of local beers and all the ones we tried were in good condition. The service was friendly (although we had to elbow our way past two old blokes who were rooted to their bar stools as they tried to chat up the barmaid) and there was a strong wifi connection, which is always a plus if there’s no ‘phone signal. (Visited 8 February 2016).

Situated just a street back from High Bridge and 10 mins from Central station this is a nice old pub serving a great mix of beer. It was busy when visited but I was served quickly, beer in good condition. Picked up a couple of interesting Scottish cask beers and different to anything else on offer

Fin  (1176) Merton, Oxfordshire, England, England | September 30, 2014| Updated October 6, 2014
We visited here on Tuesday 30th September 2014 having seemingly bimbled the length and breadth of this city. We sat at the rear on an old leather type seat (as I recall) I wanted to sit near the bar at the front and people watch out of the large panes but there were a couple of chaps who were a bit loud and free and easy with their language so we avoided them and sat to the left and rear. Beer choice was very good with a great selection of handpumps and I noticed one or two interesting kegs. This bar is situated close to Bierrex and Bacchus is also close by and this area seems a beery heaven. Both our beers were fine but not for the first time today Loz chose the best beer. Staff were friendly, service good, and whilst not my favourite it was well worth going in.

A smallish bar which can get fairly crowded at night. The beer range is good with the cask beers being turned over pretty quickly. Sometimes I felt that they could do with more members of staff at peak times, but that doesn’t detract from what is a great place to go to for beer.
