I went there about 8 times during my three weeks in Venice Beach. Finally got friedly with the beer manager and got the chance to taste a couple bottle hidden in the cellar, food is very good lunch in diner. A bit small on the bar and a bit lost on the terrace.
Visited on a Saturday afternoon in March 2016. Located in central Santa Monica, around 15 minutes walk from my hotel. The place was not that big. The service was friendly and good. I liked the selection, some interesting beers on tap and bottle. The hamburger that I had was tasty. A pleasant place to visit in Santa Monica.
Looked like a really cool joint. Came on a Friday night and place was decently busy, service was beyond brutal though. I had one beer and planned to have several more throughout the evening. Server wanted us to get entrees and get us out. Lame because tap list looked great.
This is a cozy, nicer gastropub. The inside is clean and has a small bookshelf and decorative ladder to hint at the library theme. The blazing hot outdoor heaters were going even though it was 60 degrees outside and sunny. Of course sweater clad Yuppies were gathered around them. Cracks me up. The beer list here is well put together with plenty of local and regional offerings. Beer and food prices, except the oddly inexpensive and tasty chicken wings, are Los Angeles appropriate. Service was good and atmosphere is pleasant.
Un endroit tumultueux et bruyant avec une belle sélection qui peut comporter des surprises, souvent axé sur le local. Ce qui sort de la cuisine est cher et pas tant impressionnant. Je préfère manger chez Ashland Hill et boire chez Library.

One of the oldest beer bars in the US but doesn’t feel it. No flaws. Great selection of IPAs pretty reliably.
on the main st, parked up the hill a bit at a meter. small empty bar on a monday afternoon, covered patio area in the back. set of 4 samplers available at various prices. Got some alpine hoppy birthday, and a 3 flight sample of BA Lost abbey from an event.
Fairly small restaurant and bar with a nice, clean, light wooden interior. They also have a cool patio in the background. Just a very pleasant feeling to the place, particularly in the afternoon with the sun shining in.
The service at the bar was very friendly and quick (admittedly I was one of three customers in the place). The beer list was well done with a large variety of styles. A lot of the beers were from El Segundo from some event they were having, which was nice since there were a bunch I hadn’t tried.
They serve flights here ($10 for four pours), which is good because $8 seemed to be the going rate for a full glass. Yikes.
Food is quite good and fairly reasonably priced, particularly for Santa Monica/Los Angeles.
I will say that this is a very solid bar/restaurant. It’s even more notable given a sort of barren LA beer scene. Highly recommend if you’re in West Los Angeles.
