Small place that covers the bases at a bare minimum.
Selection is decent for the area I suppose. Singles and sixes, warm and cold.
I found about half of what I was looking for, but they were nice enough to go in the back to look for what I wanted. They were surprised that they were out of so many; I guess they didnít know there was a beer festival bringing in all of us out-of-towners
Wow, this place is impressive. Asked an employee how many taps and the answer was 105. 105! Thatís hard to beat. Had a draft beer while I perused the bottle selection, which was also fairly large. It looks like they will allow you to break up six-packs if youíre looking for a single. I definitely plan on returning the next time Iím in Huntsville.
My friends, coworkers, and myself will not be coming back to this business because they do not allow weapons on premises. Donít get me wrong I respect that businesses have the right to have weapons on the property but itís the fact of not having any policies or procedures in place to protect the customers. My partner at work and me have been coming here to get beer and liquor for a while. Our troubles didnít start until a couple weeks ago we went in looking for a new beer and to get some liquor. We were confronted by an employee yelling from across the store telling us we canít have our weapons in there. I told him that they need to put a sign up if they wanted to no weapons in there and he said I understand and asked us to next time to leave our guns in the car. We had been told by previous employees it is okay because we had been coming there since they opened there new location. So the next day my partner calls and talks to an employee who is relaying information to the owner who told us it was okay but she would have to talk to "The Old Man" to get the final say so and that if he didnít want them they would have a sign up immediately. So I go there tonight to get some beer and no sign on the door I have my weapon like I usually do especially after work, because I carry one for work itís required, and the same employee confronts me about it despite my partner being told it wouldnít be an issue unless there is a sign up. I tried arguing a point with him but he wasnít having it so because of one employee this business lost over 10 customers probably more when my unit finds out about this next week. If this trouble employee is reading this or hears about it I welcome him to contact me and we have a talk about gun rights and gun control and then I can show him the facts. My main point is if an establishment bans weapons on premises, thatís cool itís there right, and they donít have any procedures in place to protect customers how can you expect customers to feel safe in a gun free zone.
Update as of February 10 2016 1130 a.m. talked to the owner today to get a clarification on if you can or can not of guns in his store he said no but he wasnít going to post a sign because he didnít want to lose any potential business. His reasoning for not allowing guns in his store was because they have a lot of crazy people come off the streets and he was worried they would come in and take your gun and harm his customers. Then proceeded to ask me to take down all my reviews I have posted of course I told him no and then he lost his composure and said well if that is how itís going to be and hung up the phone. So since the owner will not warn you and put a sign I am going to. Spread the word to all your friends and family that you are not safe in his store they have a lot of crazies come in off the street. I have spread the word and my friends and family and my unit is no longer going to take there business there.
The new store is clean, well laid out, and vast. The bar area is nice, with big TVs and a singular tap wall. The employees are very helpful and have a thorough knowledge of beer and are very enthusiastic. The selection is large, with 66 taps, tons of bombers, and a big spread of singles. The prices are standard. One of the better bottle shops Iíve been to. A must if you are in the area.
Looks like a seedy liquor store from the outside. Looks like a seedy liquor store on the inside but they have an amazing beer selection. Donít let the name fool you the store is about 70% beer. They have a fantastic Belgian selection including a nice lambic selection. They also have a nice Italian craft selection as well as really supporting their local breweries. They literally have everything great spirits have plus 300% more. They also have 40 taps of local and other crafts. I wish they had glass growlers instead of plastic jugs for it. We bought about 3 six packs of Belgians and locals and they threw in free glasses. Fantastic! I canít imagine a better beer store in the state. Of course after revisiting after five months I noticed they had much of the same kinds of stuff as before so the seasonals are lacking. I think I was overenthusiastic in my earlier review so Iíve taken it down a few notches. Update 12/27/12 I knew these guys would take advantage of the bomber law. Theyíve opened a walkin fridge for bombers and more shelf space as well. They donít quite have the same selection as Hop City but theyíre not far from it. 12/30/15 Itís the first time Iíve been able to check them out since they moved into the old Sherwin Williams building. This place is now spectacular. Theyíve really spent a lot of money upgrading the decor and have added more space. Liquor and beer/wine have separate entrances since the clientieles donít have much in common. They have a lot more space than in the old location and theyíve also added a bar with all the taps now available as pints. Itís amazing how these guys have embraced craft beer and transformed from another dodgy liquor store to a destination craft beer place.
Well, I did not see 800 craft bottles, but they do have a pretty good selection here, plus a whole wall of taps. I wish California allowed this type of setup. Overall I was impressed with the selection, particularly when state liquor laws were taken into account They had the full set of 2013 Eclipse beers for $29! That is impressive by itself. Ambiance is shit, organization is shit, but the selection makes this a place to visit if you find yourself in northern Alabama.
Feb 2013 I was from out of town and looking for some beers not available where I was from. There was no organization and very little help from the workers there. They were more interested in playing on the computer or their phones. After making a decision the product rang up the wrong price.I was told,"the new price was in the computer and we dont update the shelf price."I told him they were higher than star market and he answered,"thats where i would be shopping then" The selection was good but no service.
