This place is run by the same guy that runs the Memphis Taproom and he is ballsy. In fact, he is so incredibly ballsy he only has one bottled beer (orval) and other then that, a draft selection that to me is the best in the city. Diverse, lots of hard to find stuff, in Center city Philly, you can’t beat it. Great value, Great food. I had the PoBoy Oyster mushroom sandwich and it was probably one of the best sandwiches ever. Paired with Fullers(CASK)(IN AMERICA)ESB. It don’t get much better at all. I feel like this place(and the memphis taproom) should be the gold standard of all bars in the country.
Went here for the Philly Beer Week Russian River event. A nice place, even when packed, we still got a table for lunch. Great tap selection, and rotates. They also have a hand pump, and I had Fullers Chiswick Bitter. Nice atmosphere, good beer, good food. Check it out if you can.
I have finally been to the place enough times to feel I can get a handle on reviewing it. My first time was not great and I wasn’t sure i would ever come back. The place was new and seemed confused as to what kind of place it was trying to be - restuarant, neighborhood bar, trendy nightspot, whatever. It wasn’t any of these. Now that I have been back a few times, I have come to enjoy this place. The bar area isn’t large but has a very warm feel to it. All that wood, the darkness, etc. overcome even the multiple large TV’s to tend it toward that cozy neighborhood feel. Nearly twenty taps and two hand-pumps are divided up into a great range of options, so beer selection is this place’s strong point. The bartenders are very attentive. The "restaurant" half, on the other hand, is cramped, noisey and uncomfortable. The food is mixed. Try the hushpuppies, fritters or any of the breakfast "sandwiches." The burgers, fish and chips, wings and other barfood were meso-meso. There are nice set of vegetarian options. The only complaints I have are that they constantly seem to run out of glassware and, when they are busy, they want to hustle you out of the "dining" area. They basically kick you out, if you are finished eating, even if you are still ordering beers, etc. All-in-all though, this is a great addition to West Philadelphia and...especially earned points by offering me a shot at RR’s Younger and Registration Ale :)
Cool bar with a pretty vibrant feel. Selection wasn’t huge but nicely varied and high quality. Staff was very friendly and knew their product. Prices seemed fine. Menu looked solid but didn’t eat. All in all seemed like a fun bar to spend some time at.
Nice clean bar in west philly near upenn, bar area was pretty long plenty of seating with some nice tv’s and the seating area behind was table service and an equally sized area to the bar ... server was knowledgable and prompt ... stopped in for brunch they had a nice mix of different egg sandwich/egg plates ... regular menu looked good as well (had a chorizo and egg sandwich with jalapeno and avocado) which was tasty .... the taps were a nice mix of local micro, pliny the elder and blind pig, and some rarities from belgium .... the value was typical of most city micro bars ..... the bottle shop next door has cooler doors dedicated to local micro, us micro, belgian, mikkeller and german/british nice mix ... the "premium" non-cold section upstairs had a nice mix of rarities and vintage brews with some new releases. The prices up there were pretty typical but high .... definitely a place to stop by and enjoy, I wish I lived closer!
This is a neighbourhood bar that on an early Friday evening was bustling. A great selection of beer and one of the more interesting tap selections I found in Philly. A fantastic range of styles from sour, saison, hoppy and dark. I didn’t take a look at the menu but heard good things about the food here. Recommended.

Nice pub near UPenn campus. Nice tap selection with two casks available. Good service, though I didn’t try the food. Not a place you might go out of your way for, butt if you’re in the area, it’s a solid place to have some nice stuff.
Pretty nice draft selection, awesome service, and a nice, affordable food selection that is very vegetarian/vegan friendly! A little bright for my taste in bars but service is fabulous and food/beer is good. Dig it.
Situated right on the corner and almost hard to miss, but definitely worth finding. Stopped here as the first leg of our own little Philly Beer Raid tour, going to Resurrection Ale House and then Memphis Taproom next. Laid back local feel, large open spaces, but I could easily envision this place being packed late on a weekend, given the young hip feel to both the place, and the neighborhood in which it is located. Cool menus with old patent diagrams, a different one on the back of each. Brings to mind the old farm equipment on the labels of a lot of Russian Rivers beers. Very cool. Nice food selection, with a healthy amount of vegetarian options including a falafel sandwich which I had to pass up given the intent to hit two more places after, hopefully with food at each. Did get the white bean dip, which was rather tasty and seasoned very well. Love that the bottle list here is just one. Ballsy. Another great place I’d love to have as my local bar.
