The closer of the two Sam Smith pubs both called The Bird in the Hand, to the Metrolink station in the small urban conurbation of Newhey beside Milnrow. This one has a less conventional set up with a central bar in the building and a collection of irregular shaped areas on three of its sides, although there’s nothing particularly negative about this. It’s very much a locals place but is comfortable enough, although less cosy than its namesake and sister pub up the road. Service is on all three sides of the bar and there’s a fair selection of Sam Smith’s brews including a couple of the handcrafted bottle collection.
