Traditional real ale pub on the edge of Borough Market. Always busy and bustling, with quite a range of beers on tap. Quality can be variable so go for the popular beers that have a good turnover. Harveys Sussex Best always in good condition here. Obviously you're only a 5 minute walk from the Royal Oak though where you can be guaranteed a perfect pint.
Historic pub on Borough Market. Get very busy at times. Choice of around 20, mostly on cask with the rest on keg. A pretty uninspiring selection and some of the cask beers were not in good condition. I’m sure I’ll be back at some point to give it another go but if they cannot sustain the the number of cask lines they should cut it back a little
Classic English pub. Loads of flowers on the walls at the outside, flowery golden ales inside. Nice from a historical point of view. Angram powered.

Lovely pub in Borough Market. I realised that I’ve not ever rated it, so here goes. It’s fairly bare bones but certainly functional inside, with about 10 cask ale pumps as well as a handful of traditional ciders. There’s some craft keg but not a lot: the Market Porter is decidedly old school. Three handpumps are dedicated to Clouded Minds, a brewery new to me, so that’s cool. Staff dealt very well with a massive influx of customers (they were extremely busy by 3.30). If you want daring and edgy, this may not be the place for you, but the ambience and cask beer are top notch.
I appreciate the history of this place, in fact was nice to note that a number of the other customers were from the market. A wide range of beers but nothin overly exciting. More laid back during the day but rammed in the evenings. Uninterested staff. Somewhat drab interior. Would like to return for an early morning pint though.
Although I lived just around the corner from this pub some (too many, in fact) years ago, Market Porter never became my local, as it tended to fill up with bright young things from the City. On this trip down memory lane (March 17) I dropped by for a half pint of their Market Porter Cornish. Nice selection of beers on cask and tap, and the food menu looked ok - pub classics and burgers.
Visited in March 2016 - very standard pub place. Interesting cask beer selection, tap is not really interesting. Service is basic and ambiance is noisy. I don’t recommend this place... Nothing interesting there.
