Sadly, my only stop in Charlotesville. Parking not an issue for me as my hotel was just down the street. Easy walk. Not crowded on a Friday night, which was a pleasant surprise. Plenty of room inside, but service away from the bar was spotty at best. Bartender was on his game though. I thoroughly enjoy the pizza here, so that is good. Taplist was solid and featuring Maine Beer Co., including Beer 1 which has been on my wants since the last brewing. Solid place.
Good luck finding parking. The inside of this place is colorful decor. Went on a Monday around lunch and was pretty busy. Big selection of local beers. I had the meat pizza it was great. Service is good, and prices are reasonable. The big downside is the parking, but I would definitely go back.
A large assortment of popular drafts. The food is very California, hip, all-natural. but pretty good. The service stay pretty on top of their game as well. Prices are decent. The only real problem I have with this place is when it’s chock full of young college patrons, but I can’t hate on a restaurant for securing business during a busy season or two.
A workhorse of a destination near UVA. Drab interior, not particularly inviting. I assume it’s pretty similar to other venues in the chain. The beer selection’s solid. There’s close to 40 taps, and you can usually find some pretty cool local stuff from the likes of Blue Mountain etc. Prices are fair. I’ve never tried the food, but it’s apparently decent. The service is attentive if you’re sitting at the bar. Overall, worth checking out if you’re on The Corner.
I love the pizza here. Very good. Beer selection is decent, though nothing hard-to-find.
The service can be good, or terrible. Depends on the day and the server.
When it’s packed with frat boys, don’t bother going in. When it’s not, this place is quite good.
This is what a college bar should be except with much better beer. The location is fantastic right across the street from UVA in the corner. The had about 40 taps mostly local and national craft. The bartender was very knowledgeable about his beer and made two excellent suggestions. The prices are very reasonable with most of the pints going for $4 plus they have good happy hour specials. The vibe was friendly and relaxed. It’s the kind of place you could easily waste all day in but then again with this many taps it wouldn’t be a waste. They also, and if I were UVA admissions I’d print this in the viewbook, deliver beer.
One of the better mellow mushrooms I have been to. The bartender was knowledgeable and made some great recommendations for local beers to try. the decor is less trippy then some of the other mellow mushrooms, which means they aren’t wasting space on giant mushroom sculptures or airstream trailers. They have 40 taps, 25% local, and a recently expanded to 25 with more to come.
This is a nice Mellow Mushroom located on/near the UVA campus. We strolled in late as the kitchen was closing, which was not an issue at all. We ordered our beers at the bar and sat outside on the patio until 2 am sipping on a few beers from their nice selection. This is a typical Mellow Mushroom otherwise.
