Visited with two friends on October 11, 2012. Had a few beers and a super awesome tasting meat pizza. Nice service, pretty good selection. Nice central location. I’d go back for pizza alone, but the beer selection was decent as well.
Nice space, plenty of tables. Service was good, food was good as well. Beer list was pedestrian compared to others. Lots of locals and ready to find mega craft beers, but still you should be able to find something of interest.
I stopped in recently during a weekday afternoon. Nice location on the 16th St. Mall with above average ambiance. I ordered the 2 Elevation beers on tap and I believe they had the lines mixed up. The bartender was clueless. Standard tap and bottle list, not many seasonals. I’ve heard the pizza is good, otherwise, scroll past.
Pretty cool place on the pedestrian mall. A patio area, but no one was sitting out in the light rain at 10pm in October. Shocking. I thought only people in California were afraid of anything but sunshine...I kid. Anyway, most of the restaurant seating is sort of sunken down below the ground level, as is the bar. A handful of tables up on a lofted area as well. Definitely a psychedelic vibe and theme. Pretty good selection of beers and a really good happy hour deal (all beers $3...wat?!). Food was really solid. Not the most enormous selection, but would definitely return.
Mellow Mushroom is a fun spot in the 16th street outdoor mall and has good food and lots of beer, but not the best beer selection. That’s the short version.
We stopped in after the Thursday session of GABF and the place was full. Lots of GABF plastic sampler cups and programs everywhere as well as the attached drunk beerbros. Several of the breweries decided to eat there apparently as we saw a number of groups wearing their badges. We got a table up in the loft-type area by the deck. It’s actually on the ground level but the restaurant seems to be a bit underground. They have several dozen taps, most of which are at least not macros but are equally uninteresting. We were there during happy hour where all pints (“pints”) are $3, and that includes the rotating Yeti tap. I love the fact that there are enough regularly made Yeti variations that these guys have a rotating one. I also love the fact that (if you like imperial stout) you can get a whole glass of it for $3. That’s cheaper than buying bottles in the store. Turns out it was the regular version and we scrolled past.
The food was quite good. Womencantsail and I got pizzas. Mine had several types of meat and onions and olives. I don’t remember what his pizza was. Chinoskillzian needed to be different so he got a calzone that he said was good; I didn’t try it. The service was also quite good. If you need a good meal and/or a cheap beer come here, but they don’t have the selection that something like Freshcraft or Falling Rock has.
I was here last weekend in a blizzard. A nice airy space, with a bunch of great beer on tap. Probably about 30 taps, and some really good ones, too. The pizza is great! As are the soft pretzels. I really dug the vibe of this place, but I had no room for beer after all of the fantastic food. The bartender was a little lackadasical, and seemed more interested in playing with her phone than anything else. Still, a really good place!
Visited 7/2012. A fusion of classic psychedelic mellow mushroom with a downtown vibe. Seated promptly, but the waitress seemed a bit out of it. pretzels were great and thai pizza was perfect. Disappointed not to see any menu items unique to that location. Good selection of local CO beers on tap.
Visited on a Tuesday for lunch during a recent trip to Denver. Every table was full and I sat at the bar. The bartender was snappy with offering me a drink and the whole list seemed about average and most of the beers were available in Florida, so I opted for just water. The bartender then took a while to come back and when I did she entered my order incorrectly and took a while to bring it while flirting with a group of guys. Of course it was so loud in there with techno/ club music that she may have just heard me wrong. Not a wonderful experience overall, certainly below par with Mellow Mushroom.
Very VERY tasty pizza, decent beer selection, great patio for nice weather and people watching (or tvs for sports stuff if you’re into that sort of thing). Definitely try the pizza there, as it’s pretty hard to find good pie in Denver.
