Very enjoyable visit. We started with 2 taster boards of 6 beers for €10 and then shared a few bottles, prices of which range from reasonable to quite outrageous! Really nice atmosphere and service was excellent. Limited Austrian selection. No wifi and couldn't get mobile internet connection inside so couldn't rate on the go.
Went there the other evening. We’ve sat outside. All tables were full but that two young lady waitresses were the best we’ve met in recent years. They do their job very carefully and with full of confidense. Like service, beer selection and Burger was great. Top place. One major drawback is that the air is very greasy as the kitchen is not well separated from the bar.
Visited on 29th May 2017. Large single, long narrow room with more seating outside along the length of the wall. Decor was nice inside. Beer range was pretty good with a good mix of craft tap and bottled beer from around Europe and beyond. Service was good, prices decent and the cheese and meat platter is also great value. Liked this place and definitely worth a stop.
We came here on 2.3.2017. A narrow, long room with an impressive bar at the end. The ’beer street’ and some Irish pubs belong to the same owners. They had around 30 draft beers and 2 ciders from the hand pump. Decent mix of English, Belgium and Austrian craft beers, but nothing extraordinary on the menu. The content of Austrian craft beers could be increased. Nice service. Overall a good experience.
The modern bar is located in the inner district of the city. They have about 30 taps. However, most of the beer from tap are rather uninteresting. Nonetheless, the selection of bottled beers is huge with a clear focus on foreign breweries. The variety of beer styles is also good. I don´t really get the pricing. Some beers are way to expensive, some are real bargains. I really didn´t enjoy the burgers there and would´t go there for food but it´s an excellent place to try new beers (bottle). One major drawback is that the air is very greasy as the kitchen is not well separated from the bar.
Large selection of bottles from US and EU. Some taps can also be of intereSt. Went in april 2016 and Drunk a rogue farm 7 hops IPA (freshly brewed! awesome!) and some sour beers from mikKeller. Reasonable prices. Please dont go to 1516. Go there! This is THE craft bar of Vienna. Unfortunatly went on tuesday, poor ambiance but I had a good time discussing at the bar with an american and the waitress
Went here again yesterday (by the suggestion of kraddel) after a rather poor first visit. The first time around the taps were mostly in bad shape, this time I ordered another taster and all the beers were in good shape. Well, 2 beers were not that good, but I think it was the kind of beers not the taps. Overall tap selection is a bit boring. 3 tabbed beers were not available, the waitress informed us about which one already before-hand. Compared to my first visit (one year ago), I think the tap list only changed marginally, at least 70% of the beers were the same as compared to my first visit.
As kraddel mentioned, right now they have a sale where you get 2 beers for the price of one. They were very nice and let me get two different beers in the price range for one price. It seems like they are getting ride of all their old beers I guess to make room for some new stuff. The list contains about 100 beers, from what I understand apart from the tap only those are now available. Of those 100 quite a few were sold out already, I think like 50 or so beers left. Quite a few large bottles there. Some of these beers are a very good deal, but they are also all rather old. I had 2 Jack Abbey beers together for 5,80 euros, or I had a bottle of Brewdog Dog B (bottled 2013) for 12,80 and took another home. You can also get 2x Ypres Reserva again for 5,80. These prices are very competitive and basically below prices that you would pay at a shop.
Should be interesting to see what happens after the sale is done. I guess they should get a lot of new stuff then. The waitress said the sale will last another month, so I guess end of september.
Again, service was very good (none-austrian server), also food again was very good. Overall the place improved quite a bit. I guess it has to be seen what is happening after the sale is finished. Will update my rating accordingly.. Prices are a bit weird. Overall the prices for the taps went down and are way better now. Taster is still a good deal. Bottles are kind of mixed, some prices are very competitive, but for lagers and stuff rather expensive. It has to be seen how/if the prices change once the new stock gets in.
First Rating July 22nd 2015: Overall 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20
Good selection but horribly expensive. Went here a month ago to show a friend some good beers. Wow, did we get disappointed. We ordered a taster of 6 which is basically the only good deal they have. All the other tap options or the bottles are just way too expensive. Of the taster 3 beers were in bad shape, one was totally undrinkable. Ah ja, at first of the 6 beers ordered 2 were not available. Overall I guess they just dont have enough business to afford 30 taps. We were there on a hot day and the place was half empty.
Apart from thats thing were good, food was decent enough, waiter was friendly. But since the taps dont change at all (place was opened 6 months ago) there isnt really any reason to visit this place frequently.
I feel sad that I only discovered this place at my final night in Vienna. First of all, either this placed had changed since previous ratings, or previous raters are hating this place for no reason. I’ve seen many comments about this being expensive, I can honestly tell you that’s a lie ( at this time of visit, End of August 2016 ) . by example, I know the Belgian prices, as I’m from Belgium, and conclude that morst belgian beers ( the craft beers ) were intensely cheaper than in their homecountry. A 3F oude kriek will set you back about 6 euro’s here. in Belgium, you can expect almost double. Cuvee delphine at 6 is also 1-2 euro cheaper than most Belgian pubs. I can go on and on like this, and than i’d even leave out the fact that they did a 1+1 free on many bottles, inlcuding these things like 3f Oude kriek. meaning, 2 bottles will now cost 3 € each, which is less than the purchase price at the brewery . Too expensive, you say ???? We were served by an amazingly friendly woman, she was Danish ( and perhaps thats why she was WAY friendlier than all Austrian places combined ) Selection is big, and she was able to help us trough it, giving us a very very nice service. The taps seemed to be in good state ( I had 2 ) . Bottles were indeed out of date ( some of the ones we had ) but for a sour, this doesn’t matter. I agree it should be said up front, but actually, one could charge more, so i’m not complaining they’re selling this as if it were fresh. I don’t know about rotation, but she gave me a beer from tap that she ’just got in’ so unless she lied, the taps do change. the bottle-action 1+1 was to make room for new beers, and given the fact the list was very big of the ones she was ’getting rid of’ ( this part of the list was way bigger than any other place we visited their full list ) I expect much new stuff to come out soon. they seem to co-operate with beerlovers shop, which might be coincidencial, but these 2 places were world class, whilst others in Vienna seemes OK at best. For me, this is a top 10 bar visited so far !
Huge selection. Pages and pages of small font names of bottles, well organised and with descriptions for each style (those who are not into beer would literally be unable to know how to decide). Prices are quite ridiculous for many bottles but more decent for draught. Atmosphere dull. The staff’s knowledge about beer, as well as friendliness, was remarkable. Very good experience.
