Above-average food, and they make a decent pale ale. They do offer some cask versions of their beers.
Protip: if it’s crowded upstairs head to the basement bar. It’s much quiter and all the beers are there.
Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, a little crowded. We sat at the bar, bartender was a little busy, but was able to make it around to us. We tried a sampler, all were decent. Had to wait out the rain so we had a few more samples. Nice big space with plenty of seating for groups or individuals. We didn't try any food, saw a few plates go by and they looked pretty good. Decent place to check out.
Big place in a busy part of town. Parking can be tight. Customer service was piss poor, BUT a huge caveat. They had 2 bartenders. One was standoffish, but the other was friendly despite being way overworked. The kitchen staff let the bar staff and patrons down. The food was OK, but came out lukewarm and was over salted. Several beers on tap. including lots of seasonals. Beer quality quite good. I feel like these guys get an undeserved bad rep with the beer geeks. A LOT of low-gravity options, which is always nice (and an 11% alcohol bomb if that's your thing). Prices solid. Overall, worth a stop. Broken Bat is steps away, so a good 1-2 punch.
Bustling’ on a Saturday night. Big place, lots of seating including an outdoor patio. Nice looking, clean place but it was quite loud. Service was friendly and quick, almost too quick as I got my flight and food at the same time which was only a few minutes after we got our pretzels.. Food good but not great. Prices on the higher side but it is in downtown. Beers were all solid, average to slightly above average, nothing truly noteworthy. Nice place to have a beer and catch a game. Close other downtown destinations.
Dropped in on a busy Friday night. The place had quite the crowd. It was also loud as hell, the crowd noise overwhelmed by a really bad SNL-skit-like band. The beer here was fair to midline, we didn’t try the food. In the end, the indifferent servers and average beer didn’t encourage us to stay very long. (Brewery #617)
Visited 10/10/2010 on a quick trip through Wisconsin. 12 taps plus bottles to go.
Came in on a Sunday evening and ordered a flight of samples. Kind of quiet with a few patrons hanging out.
The beers were all drinkable at least even if a few weren’t quite to style. Didn’t try the food so I can’t comment on that.
The service was very nice and helpful for the most part even if it was a bit slow. The bartender was nice enough to mix a 6 pack for me with the 3 available bottled beers (IPA, Milk Stout, and Pale Ale).
A nice place in the third ward, with a great outdoor patio. The beer selection is great, but the food is not exactly worth the price. The only reason I would eat there anymore is if I was looking for a pizza, which is also only average. But if you’re looking for a place with great beer. Look no further.
They have a lot of beers, all made there, and all on tap. Had the summer sampler and a couple other beers, all were pretty good. The food was excellent, the pulled pork sandwich was stellar. And the food manager there is really awesome. I recommend visiting this place, for sure.
A nice place in the third ward. Great seating outside over looking the water with a large bar feel in side. Wide range of beers that seem to rotate rather quickly. Food was nice but not outstanding and service was a touch slow. Prices were a touch pricey but it is in an nicer area of Milwaukee.
