So begins the blur of the bar crawl at Summer Gathering. Plenty of parking in the adjacent garage. Nice selection of beers the Ruby Jack was great, as was the APA they had, and the Masala Mama was great to finally get to try. Food was pretty good, I think I went with a barbecue burger of some sort. Service was ok, but they had one waitress assigned to about 30 beer geeks, this was not a good idea. Plus they ran out of sampler glasses. Ah well, still had a good time.

Trapped in the tower (at Bulwinkle’s) drinking Lienkugel’s, sweating like Cool Hand Luke in the box, chastised for having a microbrew growler by some short-sighted meatball, I was determined. Thanks for having us, but I have to get a good beer. Dashing across the street through traffic, I approached the Town Hall oasis. Dove left and rollled up on the curb, robbing the Jetta owner of his only kill and conserving the jug. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a lovely patio and a guy named "Guy" who was equipped with a beer menu. Had an 1800 IPA, and a Flemish Ale. I shared a barleywine aged in Jack barrels, and an super-fine APA with the friends who followed. Bumped into an old work collegue and met his wife. See, when you go to a good place for beer, everything is better. The people at Town Hall always take care to take care. P.S. Next year I’m voting for a Mayor that allows growlers to be sold after 10 PM.

Had the sampler set. You can taste all beers is brewed with care for the finished beer. The waiter was very knowlegerble and service minded. The food was excelent. The pub itself was very nice with plenty of space and the dining room was large but cosy. A recomenderble place.

The only problem I had with this place is I couldn’t find it. Unless you are familiar with the area it is hard to find. Once inside I found out they make a great meal and serve it with a very fine beverage. Masala Mama was so great on cask! With high ceilings and walls filled with growlers from accross America it was great. If you’re lucky go into the back room and see them brewing beer! Great, great place!

Nice space for a brewpub. Large and open with a big bar and plenty of room to move around and mingle. Service was knowledgeable and friendly, and kept me in fresh beer all afternoon. The beers were all great and I could have easily sat there all day drinking them. I didn’t try the food, but what i saw going out looked good. Overall, my favorite stop in the Twin Cities and home to some great beers. You would be foolish to miss it.

Awesome place. Atmoshere reminds me of Cheers. Excellent selection of draft and cask ales. Try the chili.

Have I never rated this place yet? Well some of the brews can be stellar and some can be only so-so. It is almost always crowded but smoke free. The food is lousy but I enjoy going down there frequently.

They have the best selection of their own brews then any other place in the twin cities. This is the stop to get the best local beer.

Maybe I was there at a bad time, but the first attempt (11:30 AM on the Friday after Thanksgiving) they were closed. When I made it back the next night, the selection of taps was a bit of a let down. They were completely out of one special so the sampler was only 7 beers.

Still, the selection was nice with a diverse range of styles covered. The Jalepeno pretzel was nice though a bit pricy at $7.50. One thing to watch out for - the liquor tax is a bit steep (12%). Otherwise check it out while you are in town.

The Town Hall is nice because the beers are always changing...new seasonals nearly every week, and lots of flavorful highlights among them. A cool, cozy, reasonably quiet place to hang out and talk above the frat-party fracas that seeps through the windows from the college bars across the street. Food is always good, the brews are always tasty, and the waitresses never know a goddamn thing about what they’re serving you. Example: I ask if the Centennial Pale Ale tastes better on cask or on tap. She says it tastes warmer to her on cask. A for effort, i guess.
