Visited in July 2017 during mid-afternoon. At this time of day it was very quiet and laid back. Called ahead to make sure having my 20mo son along was OK and he was welcomed. The space itself was very neat, lots of beer memorabilia from Euro breweries decorating a beautiful wood interior. Really awesome draft list with cool imports and locals. Had the frites, which were great (the dipping sauce was money, just ask my son). Beers seemed well cared for (rotated frequently and no issues with the three I tried) and reasonably priced for the selection. Service was outstanding. All told, in the top 2-3 places I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting for a beer. Thanks so much!

Small place and manged to score a seat at the back bar our first visit at the end of a night, tried the next day for a longer session and left due to crowding. Really unique beer selection, if a Belgian fan an absolute must do.

Visited in February 2017. Very tight and narrow place. Had Belgian style house beers and one IPA. Good selection on tap and many nice beers available in bottles. Very busy place and that’s why I didn’t enjoy very much.

Great, great, great!!!! Have been in this beer bar a few times before and visited again on 15th of April 2017. It is located very centrally, around 3 miles from independence hall. One main bar and a smaller one in a separate room in the back. The compactness and the Belgium beer memorabilia in combination with the dark lighting gives this place a unique atmosphere. They have 25 draft beers (outstanding and rotating selection) and more than 200 bottle beers. Majority of the beers are Belgium style, but they also offer some very good and rare other beers. Service is extremely attentive. Awesome place!!!

First spot we hit in Philly for CBC and it did not disappoint. Killer beer list, mussels, and all kinds of weird motherfuckers in here. Perfect.

Small place near Center City Philly. Went on a very busy Friday evening. Standing room only in the front, but I managed to find an empty stool in the back bar. Funky atmosphere. The smell of mussels permeates the air. Small but solid tap list. Big bottle list.

Monk’s is a must-visit spot for beer-fans in Philly. Amazing tap list and a large bottle selection of non-standard rarities. Get there early to secure a seat at the bar, front or back. I am lucky to live within a 20 minute walk of this place as I like to stop in often.

Probably best beer spot in Philly. I’ve always had good service, and this last time was no exception. Sitting at the bar, I still got the bartender’s attention during a busy afternoon whenever I needed something. List is always good and full of classic and new finds - from Pliny the Elder to more difficult to get local beers. Straight up Belgian fare for food.
