Fantastic place that completely exceeded my expectations! Beer selection was strong although I would have preferred more IPA’s; however, it was well-balanced and priced very reasonable considering San Francisco and the beers being poured. Food was also good so I highly recommend making a night of it. My only complaint is that the place is very small, but that actually adds to the ambiance and makes it feel like a really nice local establishment. Must visit this place if you are in the area!
Wow! This place is nearly perfect. Yes it is expensive but you get what you pay for. Nice clean place, very nice people and very knowledgable staff. We tried the food and honestly we almost died.... It was absolutely Amazing. Really the food is amazing! The beer selection is just as good even had some really rare italianand Swedish microbrews. Really this is one of the best bars I have ever visited. Like I said it is expensive but it is worth it.
Close second to my favorite SF craftbeer establishment...the Toronado. Of course if you want food too...this is the place to go hands down. The food is fantastic. In addition to the nice cozy atmosphere...and the great beer selections...the staff here is very knowledgeable and very personable. I highly recommend a visit here when anywhere near SF.
This place is my speed! In the Mission, so totally not pretentious. Just a good feel with the worn out wood and the cool ornate mantle behind the bar. The service here is the best I’ve ever had. The best. In every conceivable way. The best. The beer selection is incredible. The have food, but I didn’t eat. Too much beer to occupy my time.
This is my new favorite place in SF to drink beer. The bottle selection is incredible, and the menu does a great job of taking you through the various types (without talking down or up to you). The draft selection is constantly changing, and it’s very thoughtfully culled. You’ll get some pretty obscure things on tap that are incredible - Rodenbach Grand Cru comes immediately to mind. The bar staff is incredibly knowledgeable - Nick is one of the best beer guys I’ve ever met. At first, the place seems a little hip, but it’s actually very comfortable after you get settled It gets pretty busy, but it’s well worth it. If you can, wait until 11 or so, and things will calm down and you can hang out and enjoy the light to the heavy until closing time.
The food has steadily improved in the last year, though it’s still not incredible (and a bit pricey).
I love to have some beers at Toronado, but the Kettle is now my local.
Didn’t know what to expect here, food was very nice(try to have a meal here). Nice draft list, cool bottle list. Sours, stouts and IPAs, as a person not from the area, nice to see limited beers from the area available.
