Situated in a shack-looking building just outside of Wayne St University in the midst of an area becoming more developed with swanky bars and restaurants. It feels a bit out of place, but then again, it also has an interesting charm to it. The staff and patrons all seem very chill and friendly. Not a huge selection, three to four of their regular rotation, maybe a season or an experimental. They serve 10" pizzas as well as a selection of salads and a few side-like dishes. Everything was reasonably priced. Worth a quick visit for some brews and grub.
The food at this place is excellent - get one of the brick oven pizzas. The Godfather or Margherita are my personal favorites (which is strange, because theyíre both meatless). The beer selection is relatively small, & what they DO have isnít really that good anyway. Nice atmosphere & vibe inside, nice servers, but the focal point of their existence (the beer) is extremely "mehhh".

Nice facility, nice location right near the historic part of Canfield. The parking- hello park on the street itís not hard. Pizza is thin and really good. Staff were nice, I like the bar. Problem was the beer was really mediocre. Worth a stop if in area or hungry. Want good beer made in the pub? Based on this weekend, go to Detroit Beer Co.
The worst part about this place is the parking situation. They only have like 5 spots and you can get towed if you park in the wrong spot. The pizza I had was pretty good. The beers were pretty good too, though nothing to write home about. It is definetly worth a stop but there are better breweries in metro Detroit.
Pizza was good, but not great, but I was really disappointed in the beer. It was flat and watery. I donít know if theyíve made good beer in the past as this is the first time Iíve been there, but this batch was definitely not good and should have never been on tap.
Seriously this pizza is amazing I would recommend to anyone visiting Detroit go here. I thought beer was nice enough and staff friendly. I parked in wrong spot a tow truck was outside in 5 minutes. No joke neighbors are nazis.
Iíve been here three times -- and not primarily for the beer. MCBW makes some decent brews, but the pizza is whatís worth coming for. Specifically, the Sopla Fuego. Truthfully, that is the best pizza I think I have ever tasted. The place itself is pretty small, but it has a nice feel to it. The service is decent, but somewhat lackluster (especially when busy). It seems like a lot of the people here are rating MCBW for their BEER rather than the place as a whole. Like I said, itís not the best place to go for beer, but itís still an awesome place to hang out in Detroit.
Motor City is wedged into a city block with limited parking (and, Iím not kidding, a parking security person from a nearby building who will relocate you if you park in the wrong place). There were about 10 beers available, including four or five seasonals. Pints were $4. Waiter knew his beer and offered good insights. Food was limited to appetizers, salads and pizzas, and all we ordered was quite tasty and a nice complement to the beers.
Great little (and I do mean LITTLE) local place, hole in the wall kind of thing. 8 of their own beers on tap plus some cider - first beer I am having now isnít bad at all. Looks like great brick oven pizza - waiting on mine now. If I lived around here, this definitely seems like a place I would come to often.
