Back when central Leeds had limited places to get a decent beer, this place was a haven for those seeking a good pint. Whilst there is lots more competition now, this place is still very good, especially on its ciders. 24 box ciders available plus some more on draught it’s a regular award winner in that category. 10 ales available on draught, half from York and half from other U.K. brewers plus a selection of bottles and can. Tasters available, 3x3rd tasting trays too on the draught beers. Still a good place to visit.

Had a short stop just before Leeds Beer Festival, but i counted to around 20 taps and 24 Boxed of cider behind the bar. Quite crowded on a late Friday afternoon. Have to check it out again.

Solid pub that does the job, the York beers were fine and service was swift and friendly. The guest ales could have been more imaginative, just a minor quibble from me. Worth a visit if you are staying in Leeds.

About a year ago I called in here, and walked straight back out again. However, on a crawl round Leeds today, visiting most of the big names, it had to be said the choice and condition of the beer in here was second to none. Looking beyond the three cask York beers, none of which I care for, there were offerings from the likes of Northern Monk, Kernel, Hand Drawn Monkey, and Left Hand. All in perfect nick, and served with a smile by the knowledgable barman (who used to work in Friends of Ham). The pub itself is ripe for a refurb, and lacks a bit of ambience, but if they keep the quality beer at the decent prices they ask, then I’ll see it as a must visit.

A nice enough pub that sits across the road from the town hall. A long bar with a dozen or so hand pulls. A good mix of regional breweries. It was a nice stop for a half and to find relief from the wet weather outside.

I was told that Mr Foleys was one of the best places in Leeds, a kind of lively traditonnal pub with animated atmosphere and great beers... Well, the place is so faded, depressing ambience, some random cask ales on tap, nothing really peculiar in the fridge...

Lovely place in Leeds, well worth a visit, even a flying one, as it’s close to the train station. Lots of wood and leather, this place always has an excellent selection of local bitters and ales, and the fridges are stocked with bottles from all over. Plenty of character in a huge victorian building with various levels and mezzanines. An excess of screens, though they aren’t too oppressive compared to many pubs these days. During my last few visits the staff haven’t been particularly friendly, though as a bunch of studenty dreadlocked rastabouts asking endless questions maybe this is understandable. Definitely a must-do in Leeds anyway.

Rather faded, student like vibe but a cracking selection of beer, decent staff, comfy sofas and lots of space. If you want space and beer and there are a few of you then it’s good but don’t come looking for amazing ambience.

Utilising the ground floor of one of the grand buildings opposite the large Town Hall building in the city centre, this ale house naturally has a large selection to choose from, but the prices are a little higher than most places. There’s several platform levels within the open plan bar to sit on with a classic wooden furnished style throughout - it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Belgian beers and live sports are also available.
