Much better than the stores around home (NC), but the selection was not as big as at Acme which was right around the coner. They did have some 3L bottles of Arrogant Bastard there which Acme didn’t have, but at $80 a pop I left them there.

I used to frequent this place when I lived in the area. Gave them a call recently to see if they’d put some Thirsty Dog beer on hold for my dad to pick up for me and they were very helpful and willing. You can get Thirsty Dog beers by the 6-pack or individually. I’ll have to scout out other beers they have in the store next time I’m in town. Good little restaurant in the upper level too.

Nice variety of singles, but not as big of a selection as the Solon Mustard seed. Basically a mostly organic grocery store w/ a pretty decent beer selection. However what they did lack in quantity of selection exceeded Solon’s quality of selection. For some reason there was a different selection of beer avaible in Akron as opposed to Solon.

This is a nice find in the Fairlawn area of Akron. In general the road on which it is located is a good area for beer lovers. You also have a World Market, Acme, Thirsty Dog and Winking Lizard right nearby! Mustard Seed is located in the West Market Plaza not too far from I-77. This plaza is very busy but there is ample parking.

The beer selection is small but ecclectic. It is located in a cooler in the front left of the store. There are no macros to be seen, and they have a diverse selction from the likes of Wolaver’s, Moylan’s, GLBC, Bluegrass, Thirsty Dog, etc. A nice aspect is that they ask you to please take singles from a tub in front of the cooler, but if you don’t see what you are looking for in there you are allowed to break up sixers. They even have a little chart showing you how much singles will be based on the six-pack price. Nice!

The beer knowledge is about what you would expect from an organic grocery store, but all of the employees I ran across during my visit were very pleasant.

All in all I would recommend this spot based on the fact that they are bound to have something worthwhile in your search.

The only place in Northern Ohio that I've found Westy 12. Nice variety of other Belgians too. Less than 1 mile from the Akron Thirsty Dog
