This is the oldest bar in Denver and as such has some cool ambiance. It’s a classic neighborhood bar. I’m not entirely sure why this should be on Ratebeer though, the tap list is certainly decent but it’s not above average for the area by any means. You could basically go into any bar and have a 50/50 chance of the same kind of list. Anyway, you can expect to find something decent from Odell or Great Divide or the like. They’ve got quite a reputation for their burgers. Don’t expect a gourmet experience of any kind. They’re greasy, diner burgers served with a condiment caddie. Certainly satisfying on a beer-drinking night though.

Bar at the front froom with a few tables. Quite a few tables in the back. Nice beer garden behind the bar. Staff very friendly, especially New York guy called Jimmy. Made us laugh quite a lot. 18 taps, could not see any bottles. Soft classical music. No TV sets. Excellent food at fair prices. Good beers from Colorado and Europe.

It's a cool corner neighborhood spot in RiNo. Apparently it used to be an ice cream shop. I love the patio and the ambiance since it feels very local. The beers are fine but nothing to write home about.

Food was pretty good and the beer selection was fair, though nothing there to get excited about. Atmosphere is awesome which is why I probably will go back for a burger and a couple of beers before an event at the Pepsi Center.

Stopped in here for lunch today - not exactly a "beer" place, but a pretty cool place for a literature nerd like myself - it was pretty cool to think that a lot of the beat poets used to hang out here - aside from that, it is actually a pretty neat hangout - very old, dimly lit bar with a decent sized dining area considering the age of the place - dark hardwood everything - taps were about 1/2 british and german imports, and 1/2 local brews (they had some o’dell, golden city, twisted pine, etc.) - I was told this place had the best burgers in town - not so - the burgers are like classic, greasy spoon, all-american burgers, but are hardly exceptional, especially for the price (6 bucks for a burger no larger than one you would get at McDonalds) - and the cole slaw is downright awful - very friendly staff - seems very popular for lunch on a weekday for the folks that work downtown - still, a cool place to grab a pint and soak in some history.

Good food. Nice cold beer. The selection is about 20 drafts. No IPAs at the time but standard fare and some local and a few british/irish beers. The JCB bison style is great. Good service. Music is nice. Again.. if you like cold beer.. their beer is cold as in probably 32-34 degrees fahrenheit. A good choice if in DT Denver.

I didn’t eat there and I don’t know much about the bar’s history, so maybe the charm was a bit lost on me. The selection was not much more - if any - than you can get at most decent bars around Denver. But the ambiance was great. Attentive staff, even on a busy night. Nice and dark, lots of space and a good, relaxed crowd. It’s a fun place, but the beer selection was lacking.

This is not a great beer destination, but a great bar nontheless and a great showpiece of Denver saloon history. One of the oldest liquor licenses in town and a favorite of the beat poets, this place has great ambience (only plays classical music), good pub grub (geat onion rings and jalepeno cream cheese burger all served wrapped in wax paper with accompanying relish tray). One of the best patios in town, surrounded by hop vines in the summer. A few local micros and mostly common exports on tap will satifsy most except true beer hunters.

I love this place! Decent selection of beers and the hamburgers are excellent! They come wrapped in paper and cut in half. Oh and the fried mac & cheese wedges are original and yummy! People come to this place to relax and enjoy one another, every time I’ve been there it’s been a great time.

There’s no sign outside, so you have to know what you’re looking for. It’s on the corner of 15th and Platte Street. Nice tap selection and great food-- don’t miss the jalapeno sour cream burger. The only music is classical music, so don’t expect to rock out. A nice, relaxing place with a decent tap selection and great food. Not a destination place but it’s just, well, it’s just a good place.
