An attractive bright little restaurant, you come here for the beer. Just about everything is bottled, it is still nice to try new stuff, and fresh on tap. Service about average. Not a huge selection, no cask today, nor guest taps. A small patio outside. Some of their regular bottles on sale.
Place has a nice clean ambiance with a few tvs at the bar. Lots of good stuff on tap with a fair amount of stuff that is draft only. Food was quite good as was the service. A nice shop as well to buy beer and merchandise. Also do wine and liquor.
Newer location in downtown Holland with parking in rear of building. Full service brewpub. Beer, food, product, and small arcade. Service was freindly and knowledge of beers was good. Selection of 15 beers on tap. Currently running a mini-distillery on premises of fruit based product. Enjoyed my visit and will return.
Came in on the Wednesday night before RBSG, around 9PM. It was utterly packed. We managed to get seated at a table off in the back, but as it was just my wife and I, we were certainly overwhelmed in the area where we were seated. Right behind us in the alcove where we were seated was a huge party which was a college women’s basketball team and their coaches, all drunk and horribly loud. Near them, another loud party. At some point once the b-ball team left, they were replaced by louder drunker assholes. Whoever decided to stick the quiet couple looking for dinner and a few beers and some conversation (we at one point resorted to texting each other across the table because we were tired of trying to shout at each other to talk) in the drunk section seriously failed at their jobs. Given that we were located in an out of the way section, our service was also horrible. Took forever to get orders in and was close to 40 minutes to get a cold sandwich out of the kitchen. Beer sample prices and food prices were good, but it took forever to get more beers and I fought the urge to just go order them myself at the bar since I couldn’t abandon my wife in the hellhole that was the loud drunken college scene quickly (d)evolving around us. Our food was good, and the beers ranged from terrible (as most brewpubs usually have a couple crappy ones that cater to their general target audience and not beer geeks, I’m always fine with this), to really good. I was impressed with the number of one-off sort of treatments and such that they had on tap. Maybe we picked a bad time or day to come out, but as I’m rarely a fan of poor service due to inadequate staffing during rushed crowds, I wasn’t impressed or endeared to the place at all. Overall, I guess I’d go again if the situation came about, but I’d certainly not go out of my way for it, and would certainly re-evaluate my choice of times to go.
This is a very nice brewpub. I can’t speak as much to the food as we only had appetizers, but the beer more than made up for it. A nice selection, plenty of space (even on a Michigan, Mich. State game day) and a pleasant atmosphere.
Excellent brewpub with excellent beer. They offer two types of samplers – the standard faire – and a build your own where you can pick the seasonals and high gravity series if that’s your thing. And since that’s my thing, there were many choices to choose from, including three special release beers and a half dozen or so high gravity options and the poet on cask. The bartender gave me a few samples too and answered all my questions. When I asked about the library beers, he ran and got somebody to let me know what was up with that. Plenty of New Holland garb was on sale from their beers, though no Night Tripper wear – which is what my wife wanted. The food was really good too and the waitress was more than adequate.
Great selection of beers, you can have the sampler of 6. They have special beers on draft that you can’t get in bottles, and had 4 cask beers yesterday. The special beers and cask beers were just outstanding. I always thought New Hollands beers were good not great, until this visit. They have really upped their game. They had a couple very good lagers, a rarity in brewpubs or US microbrewers, some great English style ales, a great farmhouse ale, and a barrel aged brown Belgian ale. The food was very good and the bar staff and patrons were nice. Drove out to the beach to watch the sunset over Lake Michigan then had a couple more rounds, and that is pretty cool. All in all a great place.
was very put off from the staff we arrived hour and a half before posted closing to catch end of tigers game and a beer, were told they closed already through glass window mind you! we can see about 15 people in bar area. sent letter to manager and got an appology and gift card. came back few months later service was still blahh beer is very well done and food is over priced for what it is
Nice location downtown Holland and the beers are pretty good, but the service was slow and the waitress could not explain what it meant on the menu to drink onsite or take home without having to go in the back and ask someone. The terminology was something different, but not difficult to figure out so I was surprised that the waitress would be so clueless.
