A large liquor store with a great selection, including plenty of Belgians, a good selection of Spanish ciders and many local and regional beers. The staff was great and their two dogs quiet. An essential beer store stop in RI.
It doesn’t look like the picture anymore. They’re in an old building with lots of exposed brick. It’s an inviting and warm store full of kind and helpful staff. I loved that they had so much of their stuff refrigerated and that they offered a 10% discount for a mix 6. They had a pretty deep selection of local, regional, national, and imported craft. I haven’t yet been to other stores in the area but I would imagine this place is the standard that others compare themselves too. And they had plentiful parking which you don’t always get in city locations. I’ll go back again if I’m in the area.
This is why I love Ratebeer. Chose Nikki’s as my retail stop during a New England road trip based solely on reviews here. Couldn’t have been more spot-on! Filled up with 2 cases of singles, primarily regional goodies not available to me at home. They also have a kick-ass lineup of harder to find imports. Thanks fellow Ratebeerians for a solid tip!
Update: The new place is bigger and brighter, which means more selection. They’ve added a "vintage room" where they have aged beers, and I picked up a 2011 Newport Storm anniversary beer. Lots of local, large foreign selection, plenty of US. Good prices. Sole employee was nice and gave me advice on a route to NH. Plenty of parking to tje side. Still a premiere stop.
I’ve got an emotional attachment to this place as I went to Providence College nearby, and as this place shares a shopping center with my regular grocery store, it was also one of my regular liquor stores. The ambience is fairly typical strip mall. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The beer selection is great (and certainly better than it was when I was a local). Tons of foreign stuff, American micros and of course local stuff. I easily found about 2 cases worth of stuff, and I could have bought more. A small smattering of beer, sake and cider. Some older stuff also that I didn’t expect to find. The prices here are great. They’re not too bad on their own, they offer 10% off of a mixed sixer and 20% off of a mixed case. Parking is no problem. Note that they are planning on moving downtown as they’ve outgrown this space, but I’m not sure of the timing. They said this was the best bottle shop in Rhode Island, I’m inclined to agree.
Nikki’s Liquors is a pretty sizeable liquor store located due north of central Providence. Inside it is large, bright and clean. They have a couple of aisles full of beer as well as plenty of fridge space and a vintage/aging room at the back. Although I picked up a selection of more location brews it was obvious that this place has one of the widest selections of European/International anywhere nearby. If anything I would like a wider selection of local beers. Staff(owner?) came over to offer some suggestions and recommendations which was good. If you want a bottle shop in RI this is the place for you!
This is one of the nicest beer stores I’ve experienced -- attractive and well stocked. The selection was so good I had to restrain myself, otherwise I would have dropped several hundred dollars. one of their distributors (Tony from B. United was there and gave some helpful suggestions on some pretty obscure Italian beers. I wish I lived closer to this place.
Stopped by here on the way to my Hotel in downtown Providence. Nice selection. I walked out with over a case of singles I have not had before (which is getting harder and harder for me to do these days!). I happened to come during beer tasting night and they were opening up some decent beers to try to boot!
