Located a 5 min walk from the railway station, this was my first bar at my recent visit to Helsinki. What looked like a small intimate bar at first, is a huge multiroom pub, with 2 seperate bars and entries. Cosy athmosphere with small tables, music at reasonable volume, laid back, rather dark interior. Tap selection was more than good enough for me, and the bottle selection was huge, 3 large fridges inside, showcasing Belgian, US, UK beers along with some Soumi beers. Service was not at its best, even for Helsinki.

The is a wonderful beer pub situated east of the main train station. With exposed brickwork and sienna-coloured walls, it has more of a restaurant or café-like atmosphere. Service is swift, helpful and Anglophone-friendly (as are the vast majority of Helsinki pubs). Focussing on Finnish as well as bigger name internationals, the tap selection is OK. The bottle fridge is more overwhelming, with more of a UK, US, German and Belgian tilt. They do taster flights of four 1dl beers (Finnish only) for 9.50 €. Two of the four I initially asked for were not available, but that’s only the tiniest of annoyances. A good place to drink, bordering on a destination in the city.
Visited on a nice summer night in July 2016, on a Wednesday. Spacious, lots of wooden decoration, board games. Quiet days, I guess many Finns were on Summer vacation. Decent amount of taps, lots of local and some international stuff, but nothing that really caught my interest - The impressive bottle list, including tasters of the two ultra-high Brewdogs (Tactical Nuclear Penguin and Sink the Bismarck), won. Very centrally located and easy to reach. Prices are okay I guess, alcohol is never cheap in Finland.
Big bar conveniently located about 5 mins walk from the central railway station. 30+ taps focused on Finnish craft, very wide selection in terms of local breweries and different styles when I was there. The 4 * 15 cl tasting tray is highly recommended. Also quite a wide selection of craft cider (bottled), again mostly from Finland. The house lager is very good! Food is "bar snack" type, totally OK but nothing to write home about. Staff is very efficient, reliable and knowledgeable - I felt very welcome!
Big bar very close to the railway station. Good selection of classic international beers and finnish micros on tap. Around 100 beers mainly from USA, England and Belgium available on bottle. Tasting platters with the finnish beers availanble. Nice rustic food!
Deceptively large bar around the corner from the ice rink and bus station. Inside is a little dark but comfortable and cosy. Service was engaging and friendly after some initial confusion over available pour sizes, talking of which the 10 dcl sizes are great for sampling the available taps and the bar staff thoughtfully arrange them in a suggested drinking order. Well stocked fridges got me a nice US double IPA. Music nicely pitched, cool and audible and never intrusive. Overall I really enjoyed this place and would have gladly returned given time.
Great place in terms of size, atmosphere and selection. Can get very busy, but normally a seat or two will turn up soon. New beers available almost on a weekly basis it seems.
Price for some of the larger more unusual bottles can really sting your wallet. Staff are normally pretty knowledgable about what’s available. The one downside, as with any bar in Finland is the food, which is mostly fried rubbish. The toasts used to be bigger and better too.
In a comparison of size Kaisla vs mines of Moria, Kaisla wins. This place is even bigger than your mother. And despite of being huge they are stylish. Come on look at all those pillars and arches, almost like in cathedral. I wasn’t the most sober person on the planet, so staff was bit tired and grumpy to me. But looking around, the mob what surrounds me, I completely understand them. Beer list is colossal, I didn’t count the taps ’cause I don’t know that many numbers. Absolutely worth to visit.
