This is in rebuttal to Rella. Dude, you probably were drunk off of your ass. Papago doesn’t serve coffee. Papago is a great place, probably the best place to drink beer west of the Missisippi. If you were a drunken asshole though, you should be expected to be treated as one.
This place rocks. It has the best Beer selection in the state by far. All beer is served in proper glassware, and the staff is very knowledgeable. I have never had bad service there and I go at least twice a month.
If all you can comment on is the smoke factor, you are not a true BEER Lover, your just another whining anti smoker nazi!
This is one of my favorite places on Earth! Great selection and awesome food (it’s all about the Flammekuek Belgian Pizza and their Caprese Crisp). My only complaint...unless someone pays to play music there isn’t any.
The beer selection on tap and in the bottle are extensive and with great selections. I went to try their beer. I had a sampler with four beers. Elsie’s (Irish Coffee Milk Stout), Coconut Joe (Coconut Coffee Stout), El Rabusto (American Black Ale) and Orange Blossom (Vanilla Mandarin Wheat Ale). They also have Oude Zuipers in 750ml bottles which is a Belgian triple which is brewed in Belgium. The stouts had very pronounced coffee flavor. I wound up taking away a growler of Elsie’s. Orange Blossom is their most popular and is a good lighter flavored beer. While the bar food is good, does it really matter when the beer is great?
I hit this place up 2-3 times per week. 30 rotating taps allows for something new on nearly ever visit. They have a massive cooler selection that is better then most liquor stores. They have make your own 6 pack deals to go as well as to-go growlers. The food here is also fantastic, i find myself getting pizza and wings to go from Papago, even with dozens of Pizza joints in the area. Its hard to find a better place to get a pint then Papago.

great earthy place. Kitchen wasn’t open - NO GOOD! but the beer selection is TOP NOTCH - best I’ve seen in a long time! And a big screen tv
My regular stop in The Valley! Unbelievable draft selection, a cask ale, and bottle selections from the cooler to enjoy there or take home (at an attractive price). The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the food is nicer than the typical bar fare. I always enjoy myself here, and the people I bring invaribly tell me they do as well. If you enjoy good beer and are in the Valley of the Sun, don’t miss this place!
You know you are in for a treat when upon opening the door to this pub, you are greeted by a 7-foot tall monk statue, which beckons you to come in a have a pint, like a siren of the beer persuasion. After you walk past the monk, you cannot help but notice the glowing beer cases that take up about 20 feet of wall space in the rear of the pub. I spent at least 15 minutes admiring the selection of Belgium beers and West coast micros. I knew I’d be taking a few brews home from the wonderful selection. I finally took a seat in front of the bar and a server/bartender quickly greeted us. I had little time to scan the draft list so I ordered a hometown favorite (Alesmith’s Old Numbskull) to start for two reasons…one to see the glassware in which they served the beer and another because I’ve never had the beer on draft. In under a minute after ordering, I was served the Numbskull in a beautiful flute…what a thing of beauty. As I scanned the draft list, I started to realize just how great of a selection they had, including offerings from Bear Republic, Stone, Alesmith, and many Southwestern beers. We also ordered some food, which tasted better than average pub fare. On top of everything else, this bar had the best music selection I’ve heard in any establishment. I finished the night by buying seven beers from the case that I can’t find in San Diego.
