Massive selection. Massive. And well chosen. Found some beers I have been looking for for years. Years! Ample parking, but a difficult street with pain in the ass drivers. A must stop while anywhere in the area.
This place has a world class selection of beers and extremely knowledgable staff. Chris hooked me up with a couple of whales on my wish list at fair prices. Worth going way out of your way to visit.

Just stopped in this past week after seeing the reviews.
I was thoroughly impressed (and blown away) by their selection. I was not expecting such a thoughtful selection of locals, micros - international and domestic. The fact that they have a growler station with some locals was great, too.
The person I spoke with was exceedingly friendly and recommended some other locals for me. I visit Boone every year and will make this an annual stop.
I have never stepped foot in their brick and mortar building but on two occasions they have hooked me up via mail, and once for a case of a big bottle, (and one that was very special to them!). Check them out at all costs and cheers to them for their customer service and appreciation to the craft beer world!
Emailed Chris, the beer manager, before my visit. That was a great decision.
Drove up from Hickory one night after work because Chris said "you won’t regret making the drive." He was right. Greeted by him at the door and shown around the entire place. He and two other employees talked with me for nearly an hour as I shopped and asked questions about local goods. They knew everything any beer store employees should know about the products they’re selling.
Service was perfect. Selection was great and thoughtfully curated. Lots of global beers mixed with a great variety of US craft. The atmosphere was really cool, too. Boone, being a mountain and college town, just has a great vibe. Peabody’s fits in perfectly.
One of the most highly recommended stores I’ve visited. Going back this week!
First, gotta say, EXCEPTIONAL customer service. Very friendly, honest feedback about the beer, good and bad, and I always love businesses that have a resident dog. Prices were solid, ample parking. Large selection from all regions, including a good NC selection. Growlers were available from Pisgah and Appalachian Mountain. I didn’t ask but it appears singles are available from anything. In any case, there were many singles available. Glad I stopped here.
Visited this store while vacationing in the Boone area. Overall, a good place. Selection is well above average; there are a lot of beers from which to choose, both room temp and in the coolers. But for me, there’s the rub. Much of the room temp beers are large bottles, while most of the chilled are 12 oz. Maybe of no consequence to many of you, but i prefer the 12 oz bottles, and wish there were more of them not chilled. Having said that, this store is nevertheless a gem in the mountains.
Visited: 5/9/11. Spent a day in the mountains with my family and made it a point to stop by the famous Peabody’s. As I walked in, I was promptly greeted by the guy behind the register and asked if I needed any help. Good service already. The beer section is in the back right side of the store, past all the wine. First thing I see is a nice rack of vintage brews. They had a good selection of aged beers at fairly reasonable prices. The beer is organized well, with a nice Belgian section, NC section, European section, and a large section of coolers with chilled singles, bombers, growlers, and sixers. Very extensive selection. I’d be hard-pressed to not find something I’d want there. Some of the prices are higher than I’m used to, but some were actually lower. I was approached by the aforementioned employee, and asked again if I needed some help. We chatted beer for a bit. I’m really glad I stopped. Definitely one of the best stores in the state, and by far the best store in the area.
