A modern microbrewery/brewpub. More contemporary than your average pub, Hostivar is a new pub environment for guests to enjoy. All decked out in unvarnished dark wood. The exterior has a large grassy area with picnic tables and an outside bar. There are usually 4 beers on tap - 1 of them a seasonal ’cycling’ beer. The beer is incredibly fresh, brewed from high quality ingredients and according to Czech traditions. With a kitchen to match, there is simply no reason why not to venture to Pivovar Hostivar.
Located on the eastern edge of Prague, there are a few ways to get to Pivovar Hostivar. The easiest is to take tram 22 or 26 to Nádraží Hostivar, and the bus 125, 175, and 183 to Repcická, and you’ll see Pivovar Hostivar directly in front of you. (bus number 175 from Boleslavka off Vinohrady for 28 mins until you get off at Bolonska).
Rotin (101) Neratovice, Czech Republic | September 20, 2018
(Visited April 2018) Nice brewpub quite a bit away from the beaten tourist tracks of central Prague. There are various ways to get here with public transport, I took the metro to Skalka (green line), bus 125 to Repcická, then a short walk past Lidl and the brewery was easily visible. Modern interior in light wood, and a big garden with playground for the kids. Really good for a sunny spring afternoon. Service was friendly and swift. Good Czech food. Five taps with beers from the brewery. Overall good quality. Nice place, well worth the detour.
In winter almost like a large alpine aprés-ski hut with a heated, tented patio. In summer the playground and gardens are much more prominent and the clientéle moves outside. Other than the 11° Svetlý and the 12° Polotmavý also on tap at H2 they additionally serve a 13° Svetlý, 15° Ale and usually a one-off seasonal ale (17° Doppelbock in my case), all quite delicious, as is the food. Attentive staff, with enough English to get by. Combined with a visit to H2 definitely worth the tramride down here!
A brewpub in the suburbs of Prague. Modern Scandinavian style architecture, with wood covered exterior and solid wood internior. A central fireplace is keeping the place nice and warm on a cold autumn day. Five of their own beers on tap. A 45 minute stroll from Jihomestský Pivovar through the lovely Prírodní park Hostivar-Zábehlice.
Look for a place off the beaten tracks? well, this one really is but the detour is well worth it. Modern scandinavian design with no fake hops and barley, very inetresting and well-brewed home beers of steady quality. If you can, do not hesitate to come.
A real discovery for tourist-trap-tired beer lovers. The dreary building at the busy street will suddenly unveil its riches as soon as you enter and let yourself be seated with a view at a vast green space - a sort of garden with a minor drinking station in the middle. Very nice service, 5 beers to try, 11 svetle seemed the best, IPA much overhyped. Anyway, it is worth a TRIP /to use MICHELIN/ for the ambience and beers combined.
