This place is amazing. My first place I went to in the area. A cool vibe here, some part pizza place, some part brewery, some part surfer hideout. Over 15 of their beers on tap, I tried them all! The service was the best I’ve even had bar none. The server kept bringing samples and explaining everything, she was very enthusiastic about the beer. Didn’t eat there, but I should have. A slice of pizza is 2 bucks! Just an amazing place.
Awesome, awesome place. Surf-shack feel, enormously high industrial ceilings, wooden picnic tables and booths along the wall. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Self-seating. The beer list was outstanding when we went there: Hop Suey, Sticky Stout, Poormans IPA, 547 Haight, Attenuation, Chronic, Sharkbite - 16 house beers total, plus 23 guest beers - including Stone Smoked Porter, Samichlaus, Old Rasputin, Pliny the Elder, and Sierra Nevada Anniversary. Awesome taplist, and you can get a sense of what’s coming up by looking at the fermentation log at the left of the bar. The bottle list was minimal (just a few bottles of Lost Abbey beers, but the new bottle shop next door partly makes up for that). Pizza was inexpensive ($7.50 was enough to feed both my wife and I for lunch), and it was fantastic: Ali said it was the best vegan (i.e., she ordered it without cheese) pizza she’s ever had; fresh vegetables and very tasty without being greasy. The line cooks were the happiest I have ever seen line cooks. Just a great place. Even though we had minimal time in San Diego, we hit this place twice.
This was my first trip to a Pizza Port, and I am blown away. It is near perfection for a beer lover: great food, a casual atmosphere, and a phenomenal beer tap list! Located conveniently in downtown Carlsbad, this place invites you in with ample parking and a wide open, breezy entrance. The atmosphere is typically lively and friendly, emphasized by the family-style long tables in the heart of the dining room. I ordered a lunch special and paid a buck extra (5.99 total) for my first pint of Pizza Port brew, Jetty IPA. Overall, I was near tears at the quality of Pizza Port brews, and the food is nothing to scoff at. I am now desperate to try the other two locations, as well as get back to this one.
Fantastic spot. Lively and friendly with an insanely good tap list featuring both house beers and other top rate breweries. The value is decent and you can get four-beer flights. The quality of the Pizza Port beers is generally high, especially on the IPAs and strong stouts. A must-visit place in Carlsbad. Get here.
We pretty much spent an entire day here at Pizza Port Carlsbad on our first visit. The place is surprisingly spacious and has a large bar area to the left hand side, kitchen straight ahead and small arcade area to the right. During the day the place had a great laid-back atmosphere, which is really why we spent a lot of time there. In the evening (even on a Monday) it gets pretty damn busy, but enjoyable nonetheless. The tap menu is displayed above the bar and is separated into brewed on site and guests. Over 30 beers available on keg and also 2 from cask. The guest selection included some very interesting stuff from Alesmith, The Bruery and Lost Abbey amongst others. They also had some pretty experimental stuff brewed on site: a bright pink IPA, cask imp stout with coffee and a cask imp stout with pepper and chocolate! The food was delicious -great pizza, chicken wings and mac n cheese bites! Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Easily one of the best places we visited in California.
This place was slammed busy. We were warned beforehand that it would take 40 minutes for a pizza so we had a couple beers and it was no problem. There was a solid lineup of house beers on along with an impressive guest list. Prices on the beer and delicious pizza were quite good. This is in good proximity to the Coaster which is a big plus.
Stopped by for dinner and a couple beers on the way out of San Diego on a Sunday night. Seating is all picnic tables, no servers, very relaxed. They had about 15 Port beers, and 30 or so guest beers on tap with a nice range of selection. The pizzas are real solid, and actually a pretty damn good value. Six adults ate their fill of pizza and starters for less than $7 / person. The only downside is the line for food can be really long and it can be tough to find a table during a busy time, but that’s really only because of how popular this place is.
