A very little pub located in a busy area very close to Leicester underground station in London. The ambiance is very nice with traditional English pub feel and a very sport’s oriented furniture. The Beer selection was very limited, only 6 beers on tap, in which all of them were traditional flat English Cask ales, and the bottle selection was entirely composed of imported continental mass-produced lagers. The service (just one bartender) was quite nice and informative though. This is just an average English pub. It’s very nice if you want to relax after having a busy day.

Another decent Nicholson’s pub. Nic’s always has a solid range on cask with beers from throughout the UK. They charge more than most places for a pint (c. four quid for a basic bitter or golden ale) but they also offer some beers you won’t find elsewhere. And as with all Nic’s pubs, the interior is a nice take on Pub Classic; the staff is relatively friendly; the beers are relatively well kept. A place to only visit out of convenience.

Nicholsons pub a stone’s throw from Leicester Square, so you know what you’re going to get - a tidy, Victorian style (although the building is actually 18th century) pub with a decent range of half a dozen well chosen cask ales, although rarely anything startlingly esoteric. Bear in mind that, whilst Nicholsons pubs often have beers from the better micros, the range of 25 or so guests that change from season to season tends to be the same across the chain (as are the food menus). Also bear in mind that there are a number of other Nicholsons pubs in close proximity so you may well see some beer duplication across them. Quite ornate, inside and out, with plenty of dark wood panelling and etched glass. Comfortable enough but more a place for a quick pint than for settling in for the long run. Not a destination in itself but handy if you are in the area.
