Small, cramped bar a little bit too close to puzzl’s house for my liking. Long bar with stools so close to the back wall, it gets quite claustrophobic. Tap list was quality over quantity. Only 10-15 taps. Listed on a back mirror with children’s magnets. Nice stuff, but almost impossible to read from an angle. Taps including local breweries I had not heard of before, Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier, Thornbridge, smoked and sours. No food that I know of. Bartender was nice, but oddly was convinced that Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier was bottled. I asked to see this bottle and it was Glazen Toren Lentebier. Um.. Pretty chill vibe, but wasn’t blowing my mind after all day out at Torst. Clearly I’m spoiled.
Dropped in early, the only ones at the bar. Great service, so friendly and knowledgeable. The selection was fantastic! We are big craft beer fans and came to NY for our honeymoon... We will definitely be back!
I haven't rated a place in years, but this place was so overrated that I wanted to weight in. The selection was just fine, the list was not too long not too short. The space was extremely small and cramped. Service was on the slower side. The music was loud and the selection was awful. I found the place underwhelming from the space to the decor, to the atmosphere. My experience was completed by being recommended an IPA from Other Half which I was told was "really really good" and actually has a 3.12 rating on RB and was straight bad.
Small, personable beer bar on St Marks Place. Not the largest selection in Manhattan but certainly nothing to balk at, and the selection is very well thought out. 12 keg taps and enough bottles and cans to arouse the interest. Not 100% sure that it’s noticeably superior enough to nearby craft beer bars to warrant the very high rate, but I certainly enjoyed my time here. The staff and customers are friendly, and the music has a good vibe. Good value considering the location.
Visited Friday eve 13.5.16. Small place, rather dark, small bar. The two of us shared one seat in the corner. Small but knowledgeably curated tap list, with plenty of sour stuff and quite an unusual selection. Prices are very high, service is slow.
Small place with bar seating and maybe overall seating for 30, so you have to time it right. We visited on a Sunday evening around 10pm and that seemed to be okay. Small, but well-curated taplist (Grimm, Other Half, Mikkeller, a sidra, etc.). You can order 5 oz. samples, but that sets you back an outrageous $5. Service was fine. Not one of the absolute tops in the city, but worth checking out. When here, also visit Augurs Well Bar across the street, which is even better.
