This place is like heaven. Hands down my favourite pub in Ottawa. The best selection out of any bar I’ve ever been to. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great, and the amount of exotic beer is mouthwateringly good!
Ok, so I'm biased, I live within about a 20 second walk of this place. That said, everyone I bring there loves it, despite them thinking I'm suggesting it simply for my convienience. The owner has a real love for beer, and has recently opened up a "Beer Art Treasures" store. From beer taps to scarves, glasses to jackets, wall hangings to t-shirts, it's all wonderful promo material.
The selection of beer is great, I've tried probably only 40 out of the 165 beers available there, so I just guess I'll have to keep going back. I usually go sit in the abbey section, which features Belgian beers. Be aware that there is a different selection of beers for each section, I've moved tables so I can get the beer I want.
Joe (the owner) has such a unique vision for creating a wonderful atmosphere, a mixture of roman, medieval italian, belgian abbey, and cluttered beer promo materials are all over the wonderfully decorated restaurant. I can't praise this pub highly enough.
Beer Nervana for me (so far). This place is amazing. Food is good, patio is excellent (especially the semi covered area between the Abby and the main pub). Beer selection is amazing with over 200 bottles. All beers served in the proper glass. Great look Medieval theme, great atmosphere. As said Nervana.

Fantastic place. Accessible location, lots of room, and fantastic ambiance. Beer selection is huge, with a lot of Belgians. The German selection is kind of lacking - you can get everything available there at the LCBOs. Staff have been absolutely friendly every time I have been. The only downside is the price. Most of the Belgian Trappist beers go for $10-$12 per bottle. I have not tried the food.
One of the best places to drink beer in Ottawa, if not THE best. Huge beer selection, obviously, with informed staff... beers are almost always served in their matching glass. Great interior and exterior. Food is quite excellent as well. Only complaint would be that the beers can be quite overpriced. There’s also a store connected to the restaurant where you can buy all sorts of beer stuff.
My favourite place in Ottawa to get a beer, plus they have a nice Italian food selection as well! Superior ambiance as there’s always something to look at (not including the waitresses!). Above average service (and beer knowledge)and the food is notch above the regular fare. Nice summer patio but the Abbey is the place to visit. My only complaint is that most over their beers are available through the LCBO.
Pub Italia is without a doubt the greatest Pub in the city of Ottawa. A selection of specialty beers that absolutely cannot be beaten. Good food, but a little pricy. Better than the average bar food though.
Don’t ask the waitress’s any advice they really don’t have a clue. Everytime its their first day., The best beer selection in Otttawa. Little expensive but I’ll never get board of this place. Food is cheap and really tasty.
