A traditional pub in the centre of Hawkshead.
The Queens Head is one of four pubs in Hawkshead village. It has a cottage-like feel both outside and in, with thick walls to ward off the worst of the Lakeland winter weather, low ceilings, wood panelled rooms, polished walnut tables, plate shelves and a flagstone floor in the bar. There are several rooms, including one at the back for formal dining.
Service was friendly and, although there wasn’t the same choice of beer as in the neighbouring Kings Arms or Red Lion, there were a few cask ales - Cumbria Way, Build a Rocket Boys Elbow and Robinsons Double Hop when we were there.
They have quiz nights and board games such as dominoes are also provided.
