Great traditional pub located just south of Huddersfield town centre. Inviting and cosy old-fashioned pub interior with friendly staff. They had a rather extensive amount of casks on offer with plenty of their own beers (including a couple of new ones) as well as interesting guest beers. Good value to boot. A great pub all-round.
Interesting place about a 15 minute walk south of town. Really a regular neighborhood pub, three connected rooms on different levels, and the bar on the lowest level. Five Rats on offer when I visited, and the proprietress was generous with the samples. Beers were fine, my favorite was the Mild. Worth a look.
Visited on a Saturday afternoon in July 2015. Nice pub with lots of place to sit and relax with a good beer. A good selection with 5 Rat beers including 2 keg, 3 Ossett and some guests made choices tough. All the beer was well looked after, served with a smile and was good. It used to be my local 20 years ago, it has changed a little but only for the best. A great pub and well worth the walk through town to get to it.
This brewpub is about a fifteen minutes’ walk from the railway station, straight through the city center, over the ring road, and then the pub can be seen towards the top of the hill. Charming and relatively large British pub with different rooms. 12 hand pumps devoted to their own ales (four Rat beers available at our visit), from the Ossett, and a few other local breweries. Some interesting ones also on keg, including the Rat Against the Machine. Friendly service from a barman who told us about the pub and the Rat brewery in the basement. Has got nice little patio in the back (first stop on a pub crawl in Huddersfield 09.07.2014).
On the other side of the central ring-road at it’s most southern point, it’s an easy enough jaunt from the main centre. The pub has a considerable space but in defined drinking areas so there’s not dominant area to sup. The decor is predominantly wooden throughout including some cask barrels as tables opposite the bar which is suitably wells stocked with Rat Brewery ales, those from its parent company Ossett and rotating local and Yorkshire guests.
Very cosy pub, a bit away from city center. Rather large pub, even though you don´t feel that when sitting in there because of the lay out. Besides there own beers ( Rat Brewing ) they also have a few guest ones. Relax atmosphere, friendly staff and most beers in good condition.. Worth a visit :-)
