Visited Marts 2017. A bit away from the citycenter, but the tram lines is stopping almost outside the pub. This is a cosy traditionel, english styled pub. They have a mix selection of Swedish and foreign beers, both on taps and as bottles. Served in good selection by the friendly staff. Having the time, for sure worth a visit.
Ambiance - English style sports bar with a fairly big sports free patio. Service - Usually solid. but a bit slow and arrogant at times. Selection - About 10 taps usually focused on local breweries and a couple of bottles. Food - Very nice ptraditional pub food. Loved their fish & chips. Value - About $5-$6 for a 200 ml glass. Additional comments - Can get a bit loud during games (mostly English Premier League. Would recommend a visit when there isn’t one on.
Latest visit June 23, 2016. Had two beers from a decent enough selection. Not really great service this time around. Still have never stopped by for food. Very close to tram stop Mariaplan. Parking on the street. Very close to Tullen Majorna.
Review from 2011: Been a few times, but located rather off compared to where I work and live, also to where I usually hang. It’s a nice place though, so should take the trek out there more often I guess. Haven’t eaten, but get good service with the beers, and a very relaxed atmosphere.
Quite a nice place only 50 meters from Tullen Majorna. Tram 3, 9 or 11 will take you there. English style pub with a nice spacious patio, part of it under roof. Decent beer selection with local beers from Stigberget and Oceanbryggeriet. Nice service. Did not try the food. Worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.
The Red Lion is a cozy pub, a bit in the outskirts of Göteborg (but right next to the Mariaplan stop on tram line #3), with a decent selection of craft beer and a good kitchen if you feel like eating too. I had their Baby Back Ribs, which was well done in American style and size. On draft they had Mikkeller, Dugges, Sigtuna and Oppigård and the nice waiter ventured down into the cellar to bring up some beer bottles, not on the bottle menu, when he realized we were beer trotters :) The only negative thing is that Red Lion doubles as a football pub, meaning that suddenly they may pull down the blinds and fire up a huge video screen to show a game ... which kind of ruins the cozy pub feel. Last visit: Feb 4, 2012.
This is a great place for the summer. Good value on the beer and the food. I’ve only tried Caesar Salad and the Baby Back Ribs and both were outstanding. Recommended for anyone who just feel like relaxing.
I love this place. Really nice atmosphere with lots of regulars and great staff. Good selection of beers with rotating selection of swedish micros and a plenty of other nonsense from around the world. My only complaint is that the vege-burgers have recently changed and the new ones are not up the standard of the previous. Prices are pretty reasonable for Sweden, but it’s not cheap.
Really nice place to sit outside on a summer evening.
