Went to Redís for the first time this past Sunday for their Brunch. I absolutely loved it. Iíd heard a lot about it, but it was above and beyond what I expected. Pretty much every item available on the brunch line up was delicious. The beer selection, for this part of the world(Iowa City/QC area) is fantastic. The staff, even the waitresses, were knowledgeable about the beers they offered. They also print up tap lists every time they change a keg or two, which is rare to find in my experience. Iíll definitely be going back whenever Iím in the area.
Redís taplist is always evolving, which keeps their customers coming back for more. Their food and great service are top notch. It can be difficult to get a seat during the happy hour or special events, but it is well worth the wait, and while waiting try a pint or two!
I would have to agree with the last post, I feel like the bottle beer selection is great, and the tap even better. The happy hour is fun, as you can get two Bells Two Heartedís for 5 bucks. Great deal. Good rotating beers, including Jolly Pumpkin. Yes, Jolly Pumpkin.
Great place for food and beer. Best to call ahead and get your name on the waiting list; thereís usually a good crowd. Beer selection is about as good as it gets in Iowa. Lots of rotating tap selections, from Beligan brews to American craft, and usually served in appropriate glassware. Anyone claiming the beer selection is lacking should consider this: Redís held a beer dinner where they had ALL of the Mikkeller single-hop varietals on TAP. I believe they were the first, and perhaps one of the only, places in the country to do so. Food is always great, service is prompt and friendly.
Nice place with kind of an eclectic decor. 18 beers on tap with no BMC in sight. Wide selection of bottles. Menu mainly sandwiches, burgers and flatbreads. Got a draft St Bernardus Abt served in a St Bernardus glass! Pretty impressive. Prices reasonable. Iíll be back.
Food was really good. The slaw was a red cabbage slaw, not the more likely mayo based. The tap list was phenomenal. I had a glass of St. Bernardus Abt 12 for $6. The were serving half-pints of Bells Hop Slam too. Those who say the beer selection is safe are stupid. Their tap selection is quite good and cheap to boot. Thereís something here to be had by everyone. And, apparently they have a 2 for 1 happy hour? Iíll definitely be back.
The food is great and I love the lighting and booth arrangement. The beer selection is "safe". In Iowa itís hard to go to wild when we have so few people that will drink the out of ordinary beers. But this ratebeer not raterestaurant so sorry, only a 64.
Been many times. The beer selection has always been decent, but markedly improved with the abolition of Iowaís ridiculous former beer law. Nice line up of American micros and Europeans. Bellís, Peace Tree, Millstream, Mikkeller, Goose Island. The service is good, as is the food. They have the best outdoor patio in the area and it is far enough away from campus that the crowd tends to be more mature.
