stopped by a few weeks after opening. came in on a saturday morning/afternoon just after their 11am open. place was packed by noon! tried only one beer, on cask and on tap (wasnt aware of the cask for the first round - should have been recommended by the bartender, the sole strike against them). split the charcuterie plate with my dad, it was pretty decent as those go (ive sampled them at many chicago and abroad eateries). service was super friendly despite being mobbed and food (as simple as ours was) was swift. no complaints. the fact that they are busy or crowded should not be held against the management or owners. lovely room that clearly alot of money went into.
Pretty decent brewpub. Didn’t try the food, but they have a good selection of their own beers. Good service, but really poached. Walking distance from good beers and food. A nice to visit for out of Towners.
It seems to be always very busy. Last time it was Tuesday (2013) we visited and now Sunday (2016) afternoon. After a good 45 min wait got a good table which was in a bit quieter place. There is no quiet place in this brewpub. The food was really tasty and so were the beers. All beers also available as sample size. Friendly service.
Been to this place many times, haven’t been much lately, they always have a big selection and limited releases but the crowd in here is a bunch of douchebags and theres nothing they can really do to stop it. If you go on a busy friday be prepared for people staring at you if you don’t look like an alien. Prices a a bit high and the food is usually really good as is service.
Quite a big place with big oval bat in the middle and tables for diners along the walls and upstairs. Their own beers on tap and a average selection of bottles. When we were there it was very busy, but the service was still attentive and very fast. Only downside for me was the noise, probably a combination of the acoustics and the volume of conversation, but it was a bit much. Nice place overall.
Visited on a Saturday afternoon in February 2016. The place was crowded but we did get a table after a while. Their own beers were quite good although not outstanding. Good and friendly service. The best thing with the visit was the really tasty hamburger.
Fairly busy on a Monday evening, but still spots at the bar. Parking seems to be a challenged, but I just poached the lot for Vas Foremost, which worked out well. Really solid service; European style in that there really isnt a waitperson "assigned" to you -- they are all happy to help. Taplist was pretty solid; didn’t check the bottles. They ran out of Deth’s Tar the day before, which was a bummer. Everything available as 5oz samples, starting at $2, going up to $5 for some of the BA offerings. Food was actually pretty darn good. Definitely a place I would hang in if I was a local.
This is a busy noisy taproom/restaurant located in a thriving Chicago neighborhood. There is a huge bar with around 25 stools and enough tables and booths for about a hundred guests. 17 of their beers on tap and 50 or so bottles covering most styles. Also a modest selection of liquors. Friendly service and great food.
