We went here with a large group of people - but hear me out! We were here for several hours and had 3 different service experiences. There was a Hawks game on, so we showed up about 45 mins before our party to watch puck drop and have a couple beers. Their list is arranged in a fun way - by state and style - and it’s cool they focus on the Midwest. Few things irk me more than a draft list that all says ’seasonal’ and it’s difficult to find or get someone to tell you what those seasonals are. Anyways, our first 45 minutes was good. Then we sat down with a party of 10. I was able to get a total of 2 beers over 2.5 hours, having to track down the server for the second. After eating (great!) pizza, more friends showed up after the game so we retired to the bar. My night is summed up by waiting 20 minutes at a nearly vacant bar to be acknowledged. I was so shocked and pissed, I literally have a picture of the bartender leaning over the bar talking to his friends and showing them his phone and very obviously ignoring me and another person at the other side of the bar. In multiple places from multiple people, service sucked. And the staff has poor knowledge and no respect for the beer list. Daisy Cutter showed up first in a pint glass, then a goblet, and then a pilsner glass. Sofie came in a Goblet, and later a pint glass. Glassware doesnt bother me. You could serve me every beer in a Pint glass. It’s just a telling detail that glassware changed. If I want roots pizza again, I’ll have it delivered. *upon a revisit (without the large group), the same bartender that I took a picture of struck again. We asked what one of the beers on the chalkboard was. He didn’t know. Then, after we ordered, he slammed the beers on the bar and rushed away. Sorry for taking your time. This is NOT a beer bar. Someone just wrote them a good beer menu.

I went here while on a beer tour of the west side. I had roots earmarked for a while.
Pretty wide open inside. A big bar area that wrapped around into two rooms. The whole interior had a sparse feel, but it was more for utility than cold.
There looked to be only 1 bartender at the time, so service was a bit on the slower end. While it wasn’t completely johnny on the spot service, it didn’t take too long to get a beer. Roots had a very good draft selection with a principle focus on midwest beers. Lots of goose island was to be had as the featured producer.
The pizza was pretty good. Certainly not the best I’ve had, but far from the worst. I liked the sauce on it, but the cheese was okay and the prosciutto wasn’t really prosciutto as it was capicola or some other ham. The ham was still tasty, but just not what I expected.
The pizza was on the more expensive side, but all of the beer was reasonable. Solid service, I expected it from this area of the city, but it wasn’t great service. It was a little bit above average and pretty decent overall.
