Feels like a neighorhood place right away. Late afternoon to early evening on New Year’s Eve 2015. Couple of TVs, lots of locals who seem to be on a first name basis with all of the staff and each other. Everything is available as a small 4 or 5 ounce pour for a couple dollars, as well as half pints or full pints. Had an excellent conversation with the brewer who was hanging out, and while there are plenty of “safe” beers, they definitely do some cool experimental stuff as well. Ended up coming back another night as well to grab dinner with my wife. Food was good, service was great. Excellent neighborhood style brewpub making above average beers. Worth the stop, especially if you’re nearby (convention center).
Smallish brewpub with a small patio area. Pretty empty on a Thursday afternoon. About 6 hours beers on tap and a few guest beers. Beers were pretty mediocre, but at least the service was quick and friendly. Pricing on the flight was pretty reasonable.
After I tried the IPA on tap at Stone a couple months before I decided I had to visit this place. That IPA at the time was probably my favorite IPA. We tried a sampler of everything they had which included a cask version of the brown. In the end I was slightly disappointed that nothing was as good as the IPA but its still worth trying. The bartender was helpful and nice. We ordered a plate of chili fries and someone got a burger. After a set of samples, 4 pints, fries, and a burger the tab was pretty low. The place is quite open despite how small it is. Very clean friendly environment and good food. I’d like to go back in the winter and try the wheatwine.
We stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. The place never had more than a table or two empty. The Black and Blu burger was good, the chili was not. The children’s fish and chips order was 50/50: fish was good, waffle fries were bland. We had the pale ale, stout and barley wine. The pale was great and the other two decent. Stop by if you’re in Sacramento.
Second time here, first time I have had food. Nice pub atmosphere, nothing too fancy, but for a brewpub it is right in there. Had the fish and chips and a pale ale, both were average side. Waffle fries could use some seasoning up. Service was very good. As I recall the last time, I had a couple of pints, again, average. They seem to be just a kinda average place, and they were busy both times, so it seems to work for them. Easy to find, decent parking on the street, at least on a Sunday night.
