Heard about this in my Google+ "beer circle". This place is about 2.5 hours from my house, but today we found ourselves less than 45 minutes away and could not resist the temptation to squeeze in a visit... and we were glad we did. Several of the folks there were very helpful and knowledgeable about both beer and the selections that they had in stock. The selection was decent for this part of the world, though I thought that the prices for some of the same beers we can get in VT were higher here. Quite a few brewers that aren’t available in VT... I will go back!!
Unlike a lot of liquor stores in this region, these guys had a ton of craft beer. They also had some Kind folks who are Passionate about craft beer and gave some good recommendations based on our convo as well as a nice survey of the local scene. The available beer list gives a sense of the wide variety available. Even by the register they were rocking Evil Twin. lost abbey, and Harviesloun. Definitely a tier 1 beer store.
A pretty good little store that’s close to the highway if you’re going through the area. Found some good beers here like Firestone XVI and others you won’t see elsewhere. The people working were friendly. A solid place to buy beer.
What an odd place. There’s shit everywhere. It’s a little hard to navigate, but I saw a lot of stuff I haven’t seen elsewhere, like a lot of random AleSmith. Tons of nationwide micros, imports, regionals. Lots of singles. Lots of good prices. Singles can be pulled from anywhere. You’ll have to spend some time looking high and low, because the store is a little haphazardly arranged.
Damn, no reviews of this place since 2008?!? I guess I’m not surprised as Greenfield is pretty far out there is Nowhere, USA. (I love this part of the country and it’s near where I grew up. It just isn’t near anything else.) This store is awesome. From the outside it looks like a complete no-go, with absolutely nothing to suggest the fantastic craft beer available inside. But since I was in the area I checked it out. First thing I grabbed off the shelf was a Speedway, then a Sierra Estate, then some Bruery Black Orchard, then just picked up local stuff, mostly. The selection is really, really strong. Lots of domestic and MA local beers but also a good variety of imports. (I wasn’t in the market for imports so didn’t pay close attention.) Prices were very good. I don’t recall much in the way of food and I didn’t ask the store workers for any help or advice. I highly recommend this place and there is absolutely no reason to miss it if you are nearby.
Visited for the first time today and duly impressed. I picked up Founders, Great Divide, Southern Tier, Stone and Victory top 50 beers that I was missing. Also added 6 new countries. Just like a normal ordinary liquour store with a ridiculous selection.
DO not miss this place if you are anywhere within 30 minutes’ drive. Best part: Open 8 AM through 11 PM. Perhaps the reviews are not recent enough. This place has beer and hard liquor stacked everywhere, still easy to find. with a hard working, very helpful, assertive service, boy I wish this was close to home. Lots of stuff not available in the other stores I had gone through, both local, and imports. Prices were a bit bitter on everything. They just want your business. Very easy to find. And close to The People’s Pint.
Ditto to what OldGrowth said. Solid, solid New England selection, with a People’s Pint that I’d missed and one of Geary’s new anniversary beers, among other goodies. Prices seemed pretty good; they had Rochefort 10 in quantity for 5.50 which would have been too good to pass up if I didn’t have a bunch at home; nice if small selection of Belgians overall. Good Scotch and Bourbon selections as well, this place definitely seems more focused on quality than quantity which I must admit surprises me in a working class rusty old town like this. Certainly not as impressive as a couple of stores in Northampton or Amherst a few minutes away, but this is still worth the listing for being the closest good store to SW Vermont or SE New Hampshire.
