Small, crowded and hectic place, strategically placed at the Haymarket station. Decent selection. Perfect spot to grab a pint while on the foot.

Ryries is one of those places that looks quaint and interesting from the outside. It stands on its own on a corner, an old building surrounded by tramways and building works. Inside it’s nice enough but not really quaint; its more of a traditional town pub, long and narrow with a spacious feel and good music. There were six hand pumps, two of which were off, and unfortunately the beer possibly wasn’t in the best shape. (Visited 5 February 2017).

Stopped in on this one right off the train. Was fairly crowded at the time, revelers on the way to the same party we were, I suppose. Not a huge beer list, but service was pretty good.

Traditional bar with good ambience - often live music. They really could do more with their guest ales and there seems to be a lack of adventurous bottled beer. Lots of potential.
