It took me a couple of trips to Brussels to finally make it up to Schaarbeek, but I certainly do not regret it. Upon entering the premises (which starts with a nice garden and a sign showing where the visitors of the museum should go and walking past an outside table of elderly persons having a lot of fun drinking beer, I entered the building about a half hour before they close. A very nice elderly couple welcomed me. As mentioned here before, the entrance is 3 euro, which includes a sampler of their (by now) 2 house beers, brewed by Des Rocs and L'Ermitage. The beers are not amazing, but hey, they are ticks! The bar also offers some more beers (Girardin Gueuze Fond for 3.50 Euros when I was there as the monthly special) The museum also shows tons of fun old glassware, stoneware, and bottles. One of the Orval bottles looks like it caught the soul of a monk. A gem!

Not a working museum but I did learn and appreciate a lot about the local brewing history. A limited choice of very good beers at the bar. If you are lucky enough to have a few days in Brussels then recommended but if on a flying visit this venue despite being near Le Barbetour is off beat. The old couple who run it are very friendly and endevour to speak in parrot English which is still better than my French or Flemish! I do not know what will happen to this pleasantly quirky venue when thay retire so go there soon!

This is an absolutely lovely place. For 3€ you can do the tour through the 2.5 room museum and get a taster of the house beer. The museum is more a collection of glasses, bottles and some ancient brewing equipment. There are also a few posters on the different beer styles that are insanely descriptive and simplistic at the same time. The beer prices are almost laughable and in the taproom there is even more memorabilia, glasses and beer related stuff in general. The old guys serving are super friendly and it is generally a worthy place to visit if you have the time, when they are open. (The bar le barboteur is nearby and also worth a visit if you are in the area)

A quiet, endearing little museum run as a labor of love by local enthusiasts, with loads of equipment, signage, bottles and glassware, all well kept. Large café area and a handful of good beers, including a house beer from Abbaye des Rocs (or at least it used to be).

I am surprised why this place is not at the top of Brussels’ beer scene. Its the best beer collection museum I ever been. With 3 euro you get to see a great exhibition on how beer used to be made, with real old equipment...you get to see a huge beer bottle and glass collection, some rare beer mats...all in a great local environment. The with your entrance ticket you get to taste a glass of their own beer at the back bar. They do not have a big beer selection but they are extremely cheep. Before you leave, make sure you buy a souvenir, cause prices like these you will never find. Glasses for 1 or 2 euro and other nice beer memorabilia. If you are a collector, this place is heaven.

This is a must to visit if you are in Brussels. It is the true Belgium Beer Museum. You can see soo many sort of beers, and you will see many old beer machines and documents. There are over 1500 bottle and glassware, so many old bottles from brewery that do not longer exist. Its truely a fasinating jurney through the Belgium beer history. Also its very cheap, only 3 Euros per visit which include a glass of their own beer, the "Schaerbeekoise" which is really a nice red brown beer that I asked for more and purchased more 75cl bottles. The owners are really nice and really talkative and make you feel welcome. It is a very quiet place so please do and visit them.
