It was very busy even on a Monday evening however service was great and had no dramas ordering a beer. Lively atmosphere in a somewhat traditional setting. The tap X was available but by the bottle only. A good place to get started for a beer in Munich.
Nice place, traditional vibes. Good beers on tap. The place is a touch commercialised, though, and I wish the staff didn’t take orders on touch-pad computers. But the beer is varied and good. Probably not the best value but you are in central Munich and places like this are big tourist attractions. Worth a visit.
One of the best Brauhaus (beer hall) in München. All Schneider beers on tap or in bottle. Aventinus is from tap and served in 0.3 or 0.5 glasses. Very good. Tap 4 is served in a tasting glass but only bottled. Tap 5 is from tap and excellent. Food is reliable to good. Kronfleisch available which is very rare. Weißwurst only until noon. Always busy, good service, cheerfull vibe. Very good.
One of these huge brauhauses, there are a few of in Munich. And even though it´s a big place it doesn´t feel like that, wiith several rooms, it is still rather cosy. Typical german brauhaus deco, friendly staff and beers served in good condition. They do traditinel german brauhaus food as well. I tastes the Eisbock here for the first time, which always bring good memeries... :-)

Everytime I’m in Munich this is my first choice if I’m thirsty and/or hungry! Greatly located between 3 beautiful hotspots in the old town: the Rathaus, the Viktualienmarkt and the Platzl. It has everything you want from a traditional bavarian Brauhaus, but a bit more from everything! The food is better, the atmosphere is cosier (especially upstairs), even the staff is friendlier and of course the beer is outstanding! You get every current brew from Schneider Weisse, also Tap X in bottle and the regular beers are all from tap of course (the Hopfenweisse from tap is unbeatable!). Been there the last time in August this year, was sitting in the sidewalk garden, eating a fantastic white wine sauce trout and drinking the Tap X Sommerweisse. Coincidentally there was playing a violin trio in the passage nearby (there are often musicians playing there in summer) - I was just feeling great! :-)
Somehow the typical place; even mid week it was packed full, and therefore quite chaotic; it has the expected old style decoration; beers are good but I’m not a huge fan of wheat beer, although it’s positive that they try something new with their Tap X; normal food.
Great cosy brauhaus pub/restaurant. Food was good, Aventinus perfect as it always is, service is great and the staff is very helpful and friendly. A must stop if you are in Munich.

Place rating number 500.
Visited September 2012 with chinoskillzian on a two day tour of Munich.
Being one of my favorite German brewers (that we can actually get in the US) I really wanted to check this place out and wasn’t (too) disappointed. The only downside was the bitchy server but wearing shorts and a tshirt apparently warrants that. Despite her though we ordered a few rounds, sat outside by the street, enjoyed a few rounds, and watched the hooligans yelling. I guess there was a game going on at the time.
What I thought was really cool about this was the fact that they had all the Tap variations of the regular beers all on tap at once. We tried a few of the ones that we hadnt seen in the US, a glass of Aventinus (naturally), and I ordered a small glass of the distilled Aventinus. The schnapps was pretty bad I thought, though it did taste like banana, and the rest were pretty good. I could definitely see myself stopping in here for a half liter of Aventinus or the Tap X Nelson when ever in town.
An absolute classic of bavarian beer restaurants. Excellent selection of schneider beers + some friendly lagers like Tegernsee or Brauegirgl. Almost all waitresses are aged ladies who’ve been working there for 20-30 years or more - it’s so traditional, you know... This place is always packed by locals.
