Updating my rating now that I’ve been here about a billion more times. Was a 94 before, but it deserves more. The servers are the friendliest in town. Even Ken himself, if here’s there, will come out & chat mead with you. Such a friendly, humble guy. His daughter Alyson is extremely friendly as well, & so are all of the servers, really. Just great people. The mead is absolutely out of this world. You will not find better mead, ANYWHERE. This is really the pinnacle of mead, folks. The food is more of appetizer-ish & dessert food, but it’s also very good. Awesome cheese platter & blackberry pie. Every now & then they have special events where they include a multi-course meal, each paired with a specific mead. These have been some of the best events I’ve attended. Prices are a bit high, sure, but most mead is pretty expensive. And once you learn what goes into these meads, you’ll understand. This isn’t just some extract BS... Seriously, the quality of Schramm’s Mead more than warrants the up front premium. This place is heaven on earth.
On a busy street, but very busy inside at all. Nice selection of lots of their meads, including rarer ones. However, the prices were insanely high. $12-$28 for a glass. Small bits of food, solid but not their wheelhouse. I’d come back if close.
Was taken here by Hubsluvsbeer and was very impressed. They had just released Red Agnes and it wasn’t to crazy. Their meads are world class and very tasty. The service was a cut above. A must stop! The only downside at all was parking. Good luck.
Visited on a Saturday early afternoon. There is a paid parking lot almost right next to the facility, so parking is easy, you just have to pay for it. The area seemed to be a fairly trendy area with lots of nice looking restaurants and shops. Could be an interesting area to spend an afternoon. Inside, it is much cozier than I would have expected, but seemed to have plenty of room. Only a couple other parties were there during my visit, so it stayed fairly comfortable. The service was pretty good. As soon as we walked in and sat down we were greeted and offered a drink menu. They told us it was a bit out of date, but told us what they did have and directed us to a chalk board just behind the bar that was up to date. The selection was pretty good. They had a few regulars available on tap, plus a limited release and a super limited release. Also they had pours of Heart of Darkness available, so that was a huge plus. Flights are offered at pretty reasonable prices. Full pours were in line with expectations. The only drawback I had during my visit was that the bottle selection for take out was a bit small. They only had 3 to choose from and they were unfortunately ones I can get regularly. I was hoping to bring home some of the more limited things, but either way, I left happy. The mead here is world class. The servers know their stuff, and the vibe is comfortable and relaxed. I can’t ask for much more than that. I hope to make it here many more times.
Stopped in after dinner on a Saturday and found they had 6 meads to try. Very pleasant place with great beverages. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Great place with unique beverages. Bought a case to take home.
World class place. Comfortable, upscale vibe. Could spend a lot of time here. Parking was a bit of a challenge. Friendly, helpful staff. Small food menu but the corned beef sliders I had were excellent. Meads are available in house and to go. Expensive for sure, but, the quality here is exceptionally high. Essential stop.
Definitely a top 5 meadery in the world. Almost everything they make is outstanding, especially if you are a fan of super sweet mead. They usually offer around 5-10 of their meads at once and will do flights of similar meads together for a reduced price. Food is basic, but good, and pairs well with their offerings. Service is great, but the place is small so it can be crowded during busy hours.
I like the wine bar vibe on the main street sort of thing. If you drive on 9 mile road with Seger’s Main Street playing on your stereo then you’re pretty close. Yeah it’s pricey. It’s also some of the best mead in the world and the staff are very personable. I wish there mead was available closer to home.
