I went in on a Friday at opening time, and sat at the bar. Service was great from there. Food came quickly and the beer was very nice; better than I expected with GB beers. Talked to Aaron, the brewer and he told me about some of their casks and events they do with homebrewers. The place far exceeded my expectations, and the beer was pretty solid, including the unique beers (bourbon barrel IPA and a porter, too) that were not usually on.
Visited several times when I lived in Jacksonville - not sure why I never rated. Okay ambiance, chain feel, well-lit, lots of wood, a bit hokey. My service was always great - good at worst. The brewer was often around and liked to chat and give out free beer, so canít complain there. I only ate here once or twice - sort of typical overpriced chain fare. Typical prices. The main thing about this place that the RBWG crew missed is that they have their chain beers but also put on good seasonals and one-offs. The brewer even had a special cask for us that day that appears to have gone unappreciated. So anyway, donít go out of your way to find this place, but if youíre in the area, stop in for a flight and ask about the one-offs. Maybe youíll even catch an interesting cask.
yeah, I knew what this was ahead of time but a place tick is a place tick. Pretty large restaurant, large bar. two pool tables and enough old creepy drunk regulars to keep it interesting. I ordered nachos thinking it would be something small.... it wasnít. Iíll have left over nachos for days... which is not a problem. I only had one beer and is sub par, but that is all I was really expecting. http://i.imgur.com/TP9ht33.png
A somewhat soulless place to drink beers. The house beers are at best pedestrian and at worst poor. The ambiance is alright, I guess. We didnít eat on this visit. This place certainly isnít a highlight of the Jacksonville beer scene, but I suppose itís worth a visit if you want to tick beers from a brewpub or something.
Makes sense that this is a Gordon Biersch joint I suppose. Generic suburban strip-mall location, generic suburban "family fare" feel to the place, with beer added. Seemed like a convivial crowd, although I felt the fear and loathing rather strongly. Service was quite spotty, taps were pretty basic and underwhelming, and the lone beer I did try was not very good. Admittedly, not the most comprehensive data on which to base a rating, but I was there for the better part of an hour so there you go.
Visited as part of the RBWG bus tour. Was feeling especially cashed at this point in the tour so I did not consume any beer here. Also heard and just by looking at it in the pitchers knew that I was not missing much besides a tick. Would not return.
Lived in Jacksonville for 18 years and never went here except once, before I was 21. Now here we are for RBWG, not sure why we stopped here instead of spending more time at Engine 15. The tap list is small, pretty much their corporate beer recipes on tap which are aliased to god knows how many brewpubs and other Gordon Biersch establishments. Beer quality was low for a brewpub, nothing I would say was worth drinking. Ambiance was dull, dead, depressing. Diners looked like they had all just been fired and divorced. Would not come back. Bartender was snappy to my fiancee, so there you go.
