A. Urged joint that has a bit of a chain feel. Huge selection of taps. No flights and prices are a tad high for what it is. Food was decent but not great and again a tad high. This is a place of ‘almost’ without really hitting the mark.
First stop straight from the airport for RBWG 2018 with BeerandBlues2 and Ferris. Basically a burger joint with a good (and large) taplist. Large parking lot, deck/patio out back. Inside has lots of booths, some bar tables and a long bar. No flights, even though they had a stack of paddles. Food is pricey but tasty. Service was just OK. Plenty of parking. Worth a stop mainly for the beerlist.
Stopped here after hitting Stone and Bottlecraft in Liberty Station. A large location with pretty much the same feel and setup as any other Slater's location.
This is mostly a burger place/restaurant, but they do have a pretty good list of beers. Certainly focuses on local/San Diego stuff, but they have the national brands and large regional micros, along with a few imports. The draft list is enormous, if nothing else.
Definitely on the expensive side, but you can probably find something you like here.
Visited in the evening, after Stone. Big place, not very crowded during our visit. We chose to sit at the bar. They have a large tap list containing macros, some usual suspects and mostly local micro brews. Can’t say anything stood out for me as extremely interesting, but there should be no problem finding a quality new beer. Given rest of the choice in SD when it comes to beer establishments not sure I’d visit this one again. They don’t do flights or half pours.
This place is heaven. Big place, with a nice vibe. Lots and lots of fantastic beers, offering all kinds of styles and always some special stuff. Good prices, especially if you do flights. Food is fantastic as well, man I love those bourbon maple bacon chicken wings. On top of that, the service is friendly and funny. Seriously, go here.
Tiny outdoor patio entrance that comes inside a sports theme tiny dining area with small I shaped bar. The tap list is the Star here, so many brews to select from. Just so happens my brew is out, 15 mins later its tapped and 2 dollars off(just tapped brews are discount for 15 mins). The burgars was stellar also. Great gaint TVs with the ladies soccer game on. Great selection is worth it.
Great spot! Loud sports bar atmosphere. The burgers are awesome and the forked pickles as well. Tons of taps, sometimes wonder if they can stay in good shape. Butots of great beer. Service was fine, prices good. Kid firsndly.
Come for the food and stay for the beer. I’d recommend not sitting outside no matter how nice the weather as planes overhead will constantly be disrupting any attempts at conversation. Instead take a seat at one of the bars indoors.
While the Red Poppy I was hoping for had just kicked the extensive list of taps more than made up for the disappointment. You won’t find 25 taps of BMC here. A good mixture of San Diego, California, and beyond, the drafts cover almost every imaginable style. As a bonus if you cannot choose just one they will do flights.
The primary reason for coming though is probably the 50/50 burger - half ground beef and half bacon. Just be careful to save some room so that when you walk a few blocks up to Stone World Bistro for drinks you still have enough room. If you are in the neighborhood this is well worth sticking your head in given the time.
