Mail ordered Russian River, Ale Smith and Lost Abbey beers from South Bay. Joey was SUPER helpful throughout the process, and even held up the order so I could get Ten Commandments. The web site is a nice guide, and Joey is very responsive on e-mail. The turnaround was very fast, shipped UPS the same day we finalized the order. The only knock I had on the experience is that one of my Ale Smith IPA’s broke in transit. Joey said he will send another bottle next time I order, and I trust this guy. The packaging was a bit less than bullet proof. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SB WEB SITE SPECIFICALLY SAYS BREAKAGE IS AT THE BUYERS RISK)
94 = ★★★★½ (World class)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
Who’d a thunk that a place like this would have such a nice selection of beer. A nice place to stop on my way home from work if I don’t want to make the trip up to Escondido. Talked to Joey... see you at the Port 1st Anniv. party
Yep, the owner here nows very little about beer actualy he told me his grandson is the one that tells him which beers to sell. Basically if you live south san diego yo should go here to pick up your local brews and then stop buy Ashur liquor (2 blocks away) and buy your Belgians and other Europeans. Prices are a bit steep buy i would say very much worth it.

Just click on their website and you know.....These guys know beer. An interesting, unassuming place. First time I have been to a drugstore and bought GOOD beer. Relatively small selection, but 99% of the offerings were good. Lot’s of Alpine (including the barrel aged barley wine), Stone, Alesmith, Victory, Ballast Point and Green Flash. One small cooler devoted to Belgian and euros. Overall, a very good store in an area you would expect to suck for beer. I’ll be back.
