Great food (had from the dinner menu) service was very prompt and friendly. Staff was knowledgable about the current beers available. A pleasant experience with an enjoyable walk along the waterfront right after.
Along gone when I was traveling in Canada a nice place with a nice view from the terrace at the time when I was there it was very busy and therefore no tasters the on tap selection is very good is definitely worth to go along
A gorgeous place with two levels and a spectacular view of the water overlooking downtown Vic. Worth a stop just for the location. Tons of beers on tap, mostly their own, but a few guests. You can do flights of 4 for a decent price. Beer quality isn’t amazing, but it’s competent for the most part. Staff are super friendly and will go out of their way to help you out. Definitely worth a stop when in Vic.
A $17 cab ride from the cruise ships got four of us here. Excellent atmosphere inside as well as the view of the harbor outside. The food was good and the prices were on par for Canada. The beers were actually pretty cheap. I got a four taster flight (20 ounces) for $8 and two bombers to go for $11. We took a water taxi back across the harbor for $24 total and it was about a half mile walk back to the cruise ship.
Just a side note for people on a cruise ship. All we had to show to get back to the boat was the room key. No one asked any questions about what we were carrying. The actual customs passage happened back in Seattle and, well, we claimed that we had $100 in trinkets in gifts and no one questioned it. I guess one bomber was a gift from my wife to me and the other bomber was a gift to my wife from me. ;-)
Possibly the most scenic brewpub I’ve ever been to. Right on the water on the north portion of the harbor. We sat out on the patio on the main, but I guess they have one upstairs which probably provides an even better view. Not that I’m complaining.
Service here on a Friday afternoon was a bit on the lax side, but it was very friendly and helpful, just a bit slow in terms of pace. The wait staff was a bit surprised by my request to try every beer (ten), but they obliged. The beer quality was decent enough, though I didn’t care for a number of the offerings.
Food was quite good. I ordered the bangers and mash, which I’d highly recommend. My girlfriend got a sandwich that was good as well. Food was in the $15 - $25 range for entrees.
I wouldn’t come all the way to Victoria to come here, but it’s a nice place to have when you’re here. We took the walk along the water from the downtown area here, which was only about a mile each way and was very nice.
2014-06-27 I didn’t notice before that they also have a few guest beers on tap; but running out of 2 or 3 own beers in the early Friday afternoon is not a good thing… The average quality of the beers seems in decline (70 points) 2011-08-16: as I visited the place on a warm summer day, the patio with view on the bay is fantastic. They have many beers on tap, some are offered on draught, in bottles or hand-pumped, so it’s just up to the customer to choose; and this also means that for some beers it’s possible to have less carbonation and less cold temperature; on top of this, they are very flexible and sell samplers by the glass (not forcing to have by group of 4 or 5 glasses) (74 points)
Situated in one of the most beautiful locations I have seen. Bar itself is large and airy with a rustic charm that is appropriate for the location. Service was decent, not great but good for Victoria. Selection was large again for Victoria but very local. Food was spectacular, some of the best I have had in a brewpub. Prices were high but with quality I am happy to pay. This is a must in Victoria.
Great location, great value and great service here. Beautiful on the patio in the sun overlooking the water. The beer is all very English and the food is average pub fair but this is all about location here.
