had a gigantic portion of íbayou chickení and bartender was totally on point. value on food is insane, at least coming from a larger market where you cant get a sandwich for $8. using willis as the standard glass for all beers is a fun departure from variations of the shaker. schwarzbeer was spelled schwarTzbeer on the chalkboard which deducts a point but overall not a bad place and nice to see its obviously a popular place amongst the locals.
Place Rating #700. Visited for dinner on a Wednesday evening. Cool old building in the center of busy downtown Springfield. SBC has a parking lot, though looks like it would fill up quickly. I ended up parking on the street relatively close by. Two level restaurant that had a private party upstairs when I visited, and a big oval bar along with a bunch of restaurant seating on the main level. The brewery kit is visible through glass walls on the back end of the building. 6 house beers on; 2 year rounders, along with 4 seasonals and specials. Additionally, six pack bottles and 750s and 32 oz crowlers were available to go. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I had the Chicken Florentine pizza which was good. Good spot, certainly seemed to be hugely popular with the local crowd.

Great building in downtown Springfield. Think being a restaurant is their thing. Six beers on tap. Only had time for a pint. Bought a bottle of their BA Imperial Stout to go. Since I was driving I had the low alcohol wheat beer. Food looked good, but kind of pricey. Service was excellent. Good experience overall.

A very respectable brewpub in a town that didnít seem to be very beer friendly when it was established. I have to give them credit for that. I have had some awesome beers from this place and some just so so ones. The brewpub is very nice-open space with a rustic modern look to it. Service is fantastic-lots of free samples and the food is solid for pub grub. I will stop here again when the time comes.
The brewpubís pretty handsome on the outside. Itís located in a beautifully refurbished brick building from the early 20th century. Inside, things are a bit more mundane and sterile, set out like a Rock Bottom or Capital Ale House. The large floor planís set up with restaurant service in mind. I sat at the bar and tucked into the house beers. 6 of their own beers were on tap. No guests. SBCís beers were pretty boring, but without any particular faults. They basically make craft with training wheels, not that thereís anything wrong with that. The edgiest thing they had was a seasonal session IPA, and it turned out to be maybe the worst thing they had available. Bottles of their BA stout were for sale too, but at the high price point of $19, I wasnít willing to take a punt on it.
This place has some great decor and I love the setup with the bar upstairs and a brewpub feel downstairs. It can be a great place to hang out and there are often bands playing upstairs for a reasonable cover.
The beer is good although their limited and seasonal beers are all I usually drink as none of there regulars are anything special in my opinion. Their selection of other craft beer is very limited.
The food is good but a little overpriced.
This place will also close early if their arenít enough patrons and I find that very annoying. Several times I have been in the mood to go there only to find that they closed and I have heard last call at 8:30 on a Thursday night.
All in all not a bad place and Iíll continue to support a good local company.
